I’m a Civ U ROTP applicant currently in my 2nd year of University in electrical engineering.
I have a fair amount of questions regarding coop programs specifically for engineers (see below). I would also greatly appreciate any advice/info from people who are in ROTP at Civ U or who are working/have experience in AERE with the CAF.
I was told by recruiters that coop programs are allowed for AERE, but I’m confused as to how that would work in tandem with military training/pay.
Would I be allowed to work for engineering companies in industry? Would I need the job to be approved by the CAF?
As well, my study-work sequence involves working in fall, winter and summer semesters. Would this affect training with the CAF?
Say I did get a coop job, would I be paid by the company instead of CAF for the work term? Or would the CAF be “loaning” me out to the company for that period of time?
I was also curious about BMOQ. From my understanding BMOQ takes place over 2 summers for CIV U ROTP in the form of 2 modules.
Is the ‘BASIC MILITARY OFFICER QUALIFICATION (BMOQ) JOINING INSTRUCTIONS’ on the government of Canada website correct in saying that MOD 1 is 4 weeks and MOD 2 is 8 weeks? (Version I can find is from 2023).
