Russia in the 21st Century [Superthread]

Which other countries are doing something similar?
What is the EU’s stance? What is the UK’s?

Unfortunately Carney and Starmer are on the same page as the EU and, I suspect, the Podesta Progress project.

And I am not a fan.

Some happenings. The one time I hope to not see TACO rear it's head.

I really can't get to worked up about that. The agreement was signed in 2000. That is 25 years ago. If they haven't destroyed a significant portion of the 34 tons by now they weren't ever going to comply. All they have done is bring the truth out into the open.

Meanwhile, poke-poke-poke ....

Mannerheim will simultaneously rolling in his grave and celebrating. He understood the threat to Russia that China could pose more than most and also the threat of Russia to the West.

Header of thread is "Russia in the 21st Century" Here two pieces in regard of Russia - one from 19 century published by Bologna presso Manfredi Manfredo. It's sort of satirical geopolitical map of Europe.
Second one 21 century made by Toonbox Good Animation Studio, Cypruss
Seemingly nothing changed for nearly 200 years in perception of Russia.

Naughty boy ....
... and for what it's worth, I'd advise taking a hard pass on any face-to-face meeting with a RUS "diplomat" if I were him - especially offering tea or stuff in a perfume bottle ;)
Could it be this guy? 🤷‍♂️

This was published almost a year ago, but it’s an interesting article about how Putin signalled way back in 2005 his intentions to rebuild the Russian Empire and how in the West ignored the blaring alarm klaxons. It helps that the author, Gary Kasparov, knows what he’s talking about about and lived it.

How strong is the Russian army? Nov 12, 2025 ( should be titled Russians aways lie )

On the eve of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a British delegation warned Russian generals not to go ahead. Shashank Joshi, our defence editor, speaks to one of those who issued that warning: John Foreman, Britain’s former defence attaché in Moscow. They discuss what it was like to hear his Russian counterparts lie about their intentions in Ukraine, how Vladimir Putin miscalculated the invasion and the weaknesses of Russia’s armed forces.
