My understanding is the lids ‘float’ up and down the tank as the levels inside fluctuate. So probably quite light in relative terms. It cool to see it fly off like that. Whoever fired the errant SAM probably just did the coolest thing he should probably never tell anyone about.

You are correct on the roof of the tank it is not fixed, but floats on top of the liquid.
