Wonder if there's some sort of a "fail safe" russian put in their stuff just in case it come back to haunt 'em.

That, or maybe they just know the system so well they can make very effective counter measures, like the French told the British how the Exocet worked during the Falklands, so they could use counter measures to higher then normal effectiveness. (I.e. Russia knows what freq of radar it uses, what area of Infrared it tracks (near, middle far) how the guidance system works, etc)
