If that were the case, I'm pretty sure the CF would have made damn sure that the story made it into a paper bigger than The Comox Valley Record.

Hey!  the CV Record is a fine piece of journalism!

I meant in terms of the amount of readership.

So, then what exactly are you suspicious of?  Do you think these women are ringers or something?

These women were on the course before the current "agenda" that the military supposedly has.  There is no evidence that they were placed on their course as part of some equal gender representation scheme.  If that were the case, I'm pretty sure the CF would have made damn sure that the story made it into a paper bigger than The Comox Valley Record.

But you go ahead and keep your tinfoil hat on....  :Tin-Foil-Hat:

The agenda has been the diversity targets the CF has had long before these women even submitted their vot applications. And my point is that these targets have been enforced from higher up the CoC, higher than anyone who's at the school. If you don't think a monumental shift in the type of candidates being on course is indicative of diversity agendas being pushed then you're naive.

I don't consider 2-3 out of a trade of approx 130 pers could be considered a "monumental" shift.

You still have no evidence besides your supposition.

Maybe you should read about Hitchen's razor.

I clearly said in course, as in the course make up shifted. If you want to twist my words, you're going to have to try much much harder.

Also you'll have to forgive me if I don't take the opinion of someone who has to rely on news articles to get their information about a certain trade too seriously.

At least I provided some info; all you have provided is conjecture.

Anyway, this has gone quite off track.  I know where your mindset is.

Get over it!  As you say you did not pass and are not in the Trade, so please stop whinning.

I had a female Cpl in my Troop that joined CSOR when it first stood up.  This woman was a Triathlete.  She could easily have beaten the majority of men in most competitions and was good enough to be accepted on the first round of selection.  All you have posted here is a constant whining that some women beat you out for a position as a SAR Tech and it really looks bad for you......Get over it and move on.

Here's an idea; drop by a SAR Sqn and float your theory, see how that ball bounces.

This is sad but let me put this to rest. I have worked with every woman Sar Tech except for the one who was unfortunately injured on course. I trust everyone of them with my life and the lives of those they have, and will save. They are top performers and have earned their right to be in the trade the same as their male counterparts. There is no secret agenda. The trade just hires the best people available for the job of saving lives.

Welcome to Army.ca, emily1212.

As you can see from the links most generously provided by mariomike, there is a ton of information already here on this Site about almost anything Canadian Forces-related. Please explore relevant topics. In doing so, you'll likely find answers to questions that have not even occurred to you yet.

If you cannot find answers after an honest and solid effort, we'll be happy to help further.

SAR Tech's also make the Rescue Specialist Allowance, info found here.

http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/about-policies-standards-benefits/ch-205-officer-ncm-allowance-rates.page

205.31 - Rescue Specialist Allowance (RESSPECA)

As an NCM they are one of the higher earning trades (Spec 2 pay, and RESSPECA).

Just curious; I saw a SAR Tech walking around with what looks like Multicam the other day (didn't get close enough to see any real details).  Are they thinking of trialling a new uniform?

They are trialing new two-piece flying suits - based upon what the CANSOFCOM guys are currently wearing.

Interesting - any chance those new suits will be issued to aircrew too?  I like the idea of not tucking in my shirt on the 2-piece.

Just because they prefer to get out halfway through the flight doesn't make them non-aircrew;  they simply have the option of placing less faith in pilots than you do.  :p

Technically, SAR Techs are flight crew, not aircrew.

Actually, IIRC, the CFA0 (55-something?) says aircrew trades include Pilot, Nav, FE, SAR Tech and AESOP.  Flight crew are Loadies, Flt Srgn, Flt Steward, Flt Attendant, Test Evaluators, etc.

I might be wrong by my UFI is usually ok.  ;D

Edit - found it in an earlier UFI post of mine  ^-^
