EASTPORT, Maine- Members of the Canadian and U.S. Coast Guards participated in a joint search and rescue exercise in Passamaquoddy Bay off the coast of Eastport, Maine on August 21-22, 2008. The exercise is conducted at least once a year and gives the crews an opportunity to get more familiar with the capabilities and equipment of the other agency, (Photo courtesy of Coast Guard Station Eastport)

I think the Sea King picture was taken yesterday at the Armed Forces Appreciation Day at CFB Moose Jaw. The Sea King was on a coastal transfer and was able to do a bit of a show.

Too bad I missed it.

I seriously doubt a Sea King doing an East-West transfer would be carrying around a load of flares.  ::)  The hassle just to land at airports along the way wouldn't be worth it.

Do you not think that they can get the flares at the Base? Its not like they are flying non-stop from Shearwater to Pat Bay.

Considering the base does not house an aircraft that carries the same delivery system, then no.  Sure, they could be dilivered via ground but add to that the fact that Winnipeg probably wouldn't approve such a display over dry land and the safety zone that would be required, I still have my doubts.

I would have to agree with Strike- I am "intimately" familiar with the safety template and rules for firing the system.  I cannot see it happening at an air show in MJ.

It is also a prohibitive weight penalty carrying the defensive system on an East-West Transfer, not to mention that there are not enough kits for them to be just attached to an aircraft for such a mundane task.

I went to combat camera website. There are the pictures but no caption under them. That being said, the date on the photos was the 22nd, and armed forces day was the 23rd. I admit my error.

Cheers

Goes back to the first post.  Admittedly, it was hidden away in some kickin' pics.  ;)
