Seeking Advice

I have read through most of the forums and found the advice and encouragement excellent. However, I need some advice on a specific area.
I left the service in 1987 after three and half years in the Communication Reserve to pursue a career/travel/family... but there are a few things left undone.
I would have liked to serve with the UN in some capacity and have a chance to earn my jump wings ( I realize now that Sigs probably wasn't the best place to jump but I was young and inexperienced). I have been considering an infantry unit with a para tasking (the QOR being the only unit in my area as far as I am aware ). I realize that I will be starting from the beginning again due to length of time out of uniform.
I am 38 years old, have no physical or medical impediments and the desire to accomplish. Am I dreaming or is this possible?
Thanks in advance and to all those on the short end, be safe.

Anything is possible, you will have to do all your training again, this time you know what to expect.  Have fun.

Fair winds and soft landings

Go for It!  I have seen applicants far older than 38 and they some of them can run circles around some of these young'uns.

I just en-rolled in the QOR myself, finished up the recruiting process last week, just waiting for the unit to call me, maybe I'll see you there! Good luck to you!

The oldest "recruit" I remember enrolling was 46 - he topped his Basic Officers' Training Course (!)
You know perfectly well how hard it was when you were in before:  Thus, you know better than any of us whether you can do it again (with the benefit of some additional maturity).
However, let's call a spade a shovel:  You need to be physically fit (and there's tons of info on this website about the physical fitness standards for enrolment, as well as basic para - when I did it over 20 years ago, it was 33 situps, 7 chinups, and the mile in under 7:30 - but, those were the minimums - I did 48 situps and the mile in 6:42, and I think they let me stay on the course as an erstwhile mascot ...)

If you're interested in an overseas tour, and getting your jump wings, "the sky's the limit" (no pun intended).
If you want it enough, you can do it.
Good instructors aren't there to make you quit - they're there to make you a good soldier - all you have to do is provide them with the raw material ...

Good luck, whatever your decision.
