Seniors Benefits Discussion- split from Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

OAS cuts would also harm me in the future, but someone needs to make the adult decision and stop paying welfare to the wealthy.

Exactly this. Happy to give up my OAS. As long as those dollars are going to helping poorer Canadians or reducing the debt.

Mind-blowing to me that this is at all controversial. But I guess these are the times we live in.

The savings should be put directly to the bottom line of the ledger and pay the debt and reduce the deficit. What's economic point of just shifting the money over from one segment of society to another? How does that in any way benefit the entire country and its economic future? It simply doesn't.

I'm okay with this too.

I do fear though, that things just keep getting worse for younger Canadians. So I worry about unrest if we don't address their needs.

But the first step in either of these policies? Agreeing that people with lots of assets and/or high incomes don't need taxpayer financial support. Crazy idea. I know.
