Hey everyone I just finished the final parts of my proccessing so I thought this would be a good time for my first real post.I applied to the 1st Battalion The Nova Scotia Highlanders on Feb 15.I wrote my CFAT on Feb 23 and quilified all trades, so that went well.It wasn't untill April 10 that I heard back from the Army and I did my interview, medical and fitness test  on the 26th of April. My interview and fitness test went fine with no problems. However my piss test came out positive for microHematuria(blood in the urine you can't see) so I now have to be further evaluated by my doctor and now I'm just a little frustrated that this could slow down my enrollment or maybe even stop it altogether.Anyway, I post when I have an update.
                        Regards,
                                    Matt

Yes what is up with these stupid medical tests anyways?  You could get the impression that the CF only wanted medically fit people.  Go figure.

WOW! That was a really usefull post. Glad you cleared that up for me, here I was thinking that even if I was near death that the army would still want me.Thanks.I was only wondering if this was going a big problem for my proccesing.Apparently it's hard to post on here w/o being insulted so I won't anymore. Thanks again for your help.

I am a bit confused, hope you don't get "offended" and boycott us due to this question,

What exactly was the help you were looking for?

I mean, I would offer to pee in your cup to help you get in, but you may be hauled of to the clink...

either way, what was it you were looking for?

Well I guess I really didn't state a clear question I just thought that the "personal stories" section was used for discussing your application progress for so that's what I did and I got sarcasim in return.I wasn't complaining about the medical I was just thought that since it's the only snag I've hit I thought I should mention it when discussing my application progress. And I wonder what "DA" stands for?

What exactly is micro hematuria all about out of curiosity? Hope everything works out for you.

Edit: Asked the Medical Dictionary and it doesn't sound so good. Get it checked out ASAP as it may indicate numerous conditions you want to get started treating as soon as possible. Don't get too excited, most likely nothing, but it's important especially if you're having other symptoms.

Well I will tell you what Sunshine you had better get a harder outer shell than you have now if you want to make it in the CF.  If you can't handle it now you won't handle it later.

Hi Porter,

This is my first post here, but I have been reading it quite frequently for a while now.  I’m currently in the recruiting phase as well (I believe I'm merit listed now - awaiting to be sworn in).  I too discovered that I had Microhematuria during the medical (my urine tested positive for blood).  I had to go to a doctor and get tested further.  At the doctor's, my test was negative for blood.  I had to have a form filled out and return the results to the recruiting centre. It didn’t set me back very long.

As it’s a Microhematuria, it’s hard to tell if it is a regular occurrence as you probably wouldn’t see any change in color.  I’ve heard that this can result from strenuous activity.  I had my physical just before my medical and went all out on the sit-ups (I was racing the guy next to me).  I believe that’s when it happened.  I’ve also heard that for some people a little bit of blood in their urine is normal.  The army would just like to find out – better safe than sorry I guess.

All I can say is good luck and hopefully your next test will not be positive for blood and you can carry on with your recruiting process.

This happened to me as well.

It's not at all uncommon for guys to have some excessive dissolved blood in the urine. It can result from strenuous activity, malnourishment, or a variety of other factors. For me, that other factor was... (deep swallowing of pride here) getting frisky with my girlfriend the night before my medical.

Unless something is seriously wrong, It's a minor inconvenience to get this dealt with. They had me visit my family doctor, and I was in-and-out in 5 minutes.

I experienced something similar, in my case it led to the discovery of an atrophic kidney. Delayed the paperwork a bit and the medics deemed me fit, I just have to perform an annual test to check protein levels. This is in the "close to worst case" scenario. So I wouldn't lose too much sleep over this, you may have a bit more time to chill out this summer as the paperwork is processed.

Interpretting the written word in an age where verbal is the standard can led to misunderstandings. As King says, thicken it up a bit and keep plenty of salt on hand. King's the authority here on CFRC matters, if you make use of the search feature before you query aloud, then maybe he'll go easier on you (look into my prior posts from a couple of years ago, I got a few smacks for just such behaviour  :-[ ) Maybe ;)

Cheers...

Hey,
It was nothing.Second test came back negitive for blood and my letter is sent.So hopefully that's that. Now time to wait. :brickwall: lol
