Some of the bought & paid for media

except they could actually watch the news to ensure compliance instead of waiting for a filed complaint which generally means any corrective measures are too late
Considering the Council (industry-funded, voluntary & self-regulating - more from their "About Us" page here) covers (at last count) about 760 TV & radio stations (check them all out here, here and here), any ideas on how they might "actually watch the news to ensure compliance"? Easier said than done, methinks ....
unfortunately it seems within their mandate they can't act without a complained, heres an example from last year

The number of complaints seem to ebb & flow from year to year according to their page

... and here's what looks like the entire answer from some guy who seems to track such things.
Could be a good pebble out of Team Red's sandal, but beware the "Walmart-ization" of news (bigger outlets able to get better deals from platforms, shutting out smaller outlets) & the potential (further) shrinkage of local news. We'll see ...

Well, they might be 'left-washing' the public but at least the CBC reported this ;)

Former CBC News host Travis Dhanraj accused the public broadcaster of trying to silence him when he challenged bias at the network and fought for diversity of opinion.

"I raised concerns. I challenged centralized control and bias," Dhanraj told a Canadian Heritage parliamentary committee hearing on Tuesday looking into the state of journalism and media sectors.

Dhanraj, the former host of CBC's Canada Tonight, said he fought for real diversity and raised concerns about a toxic environment, but the CBC "silenced and intimidated" him just for trying to do his job as a journalist.

And, if you're interested in the paperwork Dhanraj submitted to the Committee, see attached :)

And from the "I'm shocked there's gambling in this establishment" file ...
