Something strange- WAP Version of Milnet.ca

It's just the wap version of the site.

like so:

WAP is for mobile devices like phones. So what you're seeing is a "cut down" version of the page, meant for browsing via cell phone.

NG

lol, thanks for clearing up my puzzeling question

Just a thought; but maybe to free up server space, any archived threads that haven't been accessed in over 100 days could be converted to WAP format... it might be a way to keep the site from crashing?

I don't know anything about IT, but I'm just tossing that out there, in case it's a viable solution to army.ca 's popularity crisis.

Actually the threads are already stored in a pretty efficient format, and then displayed in "normal" or "WAP" mode depending on how the request is made. We just need to make it to the new hardware and then the archives won't be an issue. :)

I don't know what you've been doing but the site's speed has been great lately...thanks!

Mike, how can you get it in the other format, or dose it load in that format when opened by a mobile device?

It should be automatic when you view the site from a WAP capable device... works automagically for me anyway.

When I tried it from my phone, I got the regular site (green background, etc.)
