Hi all.
As some of you may or may not know...I was on my way to St Jean last week to see HLs, and was sleeping in my car when I was run into and "somewhat" over by a transfer truck. The car is a write off, and the past week, I have been dealing with an insurance adjuster, whose name I would like to post, but won't.
This man had seemed to be going out of his way to make this as easy for me as possible. I have dealt with some insurance people before, and this gentlemen was going well above and beyond what, I feel, they normally would do. I thought perhaps I had just lucked out.
Today, in putting the final details together, I had replied to his email, about turning in the rental car, getting the settlement cheque, and stuff like that.
The last line of my email to this man was...
I thank you for your assistance with this on my behalf over the last week, it is much appreciated.
And his reply to this was...
THANKS...Let's say it's my small contribution to the country if I was able to help a Sergeant do HIS work on my behalf and on behalf of my family. Thanks to you and to your men and women serving under you.
Needless to say I was surprised in a good way with the reply.
Now, I honestly don't feel I REALLY contribute to this country the way some people have, are, and will. I am not "putting it on the line in Halifax". Thats just a fact. There are many others that are, and who are REALLY away from home. I would not feel right if I didn't say...that this comment is meant for you folks. You are fighting the good fight and I felt, when I read it, like I was taking YOUR credit.
I thought I would post this here. I think its only fair that words like these are extended to ALL our service men and women, no matter who they are, what they are, or where they are.
Little comments like these are what makes it all worth while.
To all of you, where ever you are,
.
To our boys and girls away from home, in dangerous place, keep those sticks on the ice folks. We await your safe return.
