Hi All,
Does anyone know exactly how long SQ is for reg force members. I am joining as a medic and just waiting for my swearing date. But nobody can tell me how long Sq is??? Ahhh!!!

Thanks, Kawigirl

Did you try :

Search page - http://forums.army.ca/forums/index.php?action=search;advanced

Google search of Army.ca - http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=+site%3Aarmy.ca+%22search+term%22&btnG=Search&meta= (follow the link then replace "search term" with what you are looking for)

with "SQ" and "courses" for a start ?

Add :

or
Soldier Qualification Course (Questions & Answers)

I did look at the SQ questions and answers but it seems that there is alot of reservists, not reg force questions and answers. But I will try the link you sent me. Thanks.

25 training days... give or take.  Wait until Monday when I get back to the office and I'll let you know how exactly.

Cheers

Good luck in your training... i'm still waiting for the exact date that I start.. My job is "close" right now. Have to wait until April 1st before I get the call.. arggg lol

yeah thats the shitty part about the forces..... i had been ready to go since last fall and i just got the call now......  oh well now that i am in it feels good lol

I just did SQ,

19 training days andn 3 admin days.

For some trades SQ is being integrated, just to let you know. Not sure if they are making this the de-facto but I do know that several current friends in PAT awaiting their trade have been told that SQ is now part of their trade training (they are in the combat arms trades).

yes it is integrated for the combat arms, but not for the services trade.

SQ for Med Techs (and other support trades) is 4 weeks in length currently. (number of training days depends on your course per say, as some get weekends off, some don't)

Makes sense to me. I was told at one point that SQ was separated from all the trade courses and until fairly recently they re-integrated them. Wasnt sure which trades though.

Couple things:

1. If when you were recruited and sworn in, you did not require SQ for your trade (i.e.: musician), are you required to take SQ?

2. Is SQ required to advance to other ranks or to take other courses down the line?

Just wondering as there are some huge regimental bands/pipes and drums out there. If SQ would now be required of all the musicians only BMQ qualified currently on strength, there would be a huge amount of people being recoursed or told to quit. I've been hearing the if you're not deployable, you're not employable line of late and the possibility of those only BMQ qualified having to do SQ within a certain amount of time, or they'd have to resign.

Does anybody know if this is fact or fiction?

Thanks.

the SQ is required for certain trades...musicians do not follow the SQ.

SQ will not be mandatory for you career if you stay in a non mandatory trade (Ex: musician)

If you change trade..you might have to follow it.
