Rioting across UK cities (summer 2024 and beyond)

I wonder if the Russians fund the far right in the UK using the same methods that they used with the far left in the 80's?
Or, they're still funding the extreme left, which remains determined in its decades-long quest to destabilize the centre, now by importing not particularly well-adjusted people, some of whom are just mentally unstable, but many of whom originate in cultures that aren't in a hurry to adopt western liberal institutions and have enough cultural chauvinism to impose their attitudes in their new home. Throw in speculation that they help those people migrate, too.

The Four Stages of Subversion

Bezmenov outlined a four-stage process that he claimed the KGB utilized to break down a target society:

  • Demoralization: A prolonged, multi-decade process intended to erode the moral foundations, cultural values, and faith in institutions of a target nation. Bezmenov argued this was achieved by infiltrating education and media to raise generations unable to objectively assess true information. [1, 2]
  • Destabilization: The targeting of key economic, foreign policy, and power structures to disrupt the normal functioning of society. [1]
  • Crisis: A sudden, violent shift in the balance of power that forces a country to its breaking point. [1]
  • Normalization: The final stage, where a new totalitarian or socialist structure is imposed on the population under the guise of restoring order. [1, 2]

Always follow the money.
I note that it was neighbors and residents who saved the man being attacked. The assailant was defeated with a hurling bat. I can assure you that had the above happened in front of my residence, the assailant would have been confronted with more than a hurling bat.

Which again, speaks to why the Govt is pressing ahead with their gun grab and various bills targeting digital media.

My personal opinion is it's being done at the behest of corporations to suppress wages and benefit a select few elites at the expense of working class Canadians.

I can’t remember which program I was listening to, but Tony Keller of the Globe and Mail said it was a strange convergence of the social justice far left and the business community.

Further evidence for me that business people are not pro free-enterprise.

Why be pro-free enterprise when you can secure your place at the top, and wrap yourself in DEI/anti-racist armour?

As for the business in the UK right now, it's the inevitable result when government fails in it's basic duty to protect it's citizens.

Big business will try to kill off competition by almost any means before they become a threat.

As for immigration, I remember the opposition to Harper, producing a booklet for would be immigrants on "Canadian Values" and what is expected of the immigrants arriving here. One has to ask why such a move would be controversial?

I have seen firsthand on multiple occasions of immigrants being taken aback by the rights given to women here, including their wives and daughters. It should have been made painfully clear to them before coming and to sign an acknowledgement that they understand what they are agreeing to. That would keep the worse away and reduce some of the friction.

and maybe reduce the number of murders committed to protect the honour of the family.

By my understanding, the business angle has/had nothing to do with that stuff. It was always about accessing a labour pool that would put downward pressure on the wages of the labour market.

It just so happened that this goal converged with the “no one is illegal/no borders” crowd, which makes up a small minority of the left but have an outsized voice.

As much as business people will talk up the free market economy, they will be perfectly happy to have government intervention that protects their market share or increases their revenues.

There aren't that many serious crimes resulting from cultural baggage.

What's likely to corrode the country is the sum of all the small illiberal cultural quiffs.

I think at least some of it was the principle of any given government coming up with values. I’m guessing those who liked Harper’s idea wouldn’t be so enamoured of any such plan from a Team Red government - or, heaven forbid, Team Orange if that ever happened.
