No surprise. Sure would like to know where that secret place was. ;D

"The infidels of the entire world have gathered in
Afghanistan, occupied it and taken the Afghans hostage," Tayyab Agha said by satellite phone from a secret place.

"There can be no talks with the Afghan puppet government in the presence of foreign occupying forces. Hamid Karzai and his colleagues should first free themselves from the slavery of foreign infidels and then invite us for negotiations."

Karzai on Friday repeated his offer for talks if the Taliban leadership met several conditions, including ending support from elements in Pakistan and the involvement of foreign fighters.

"The Taliban will not negotiate in the presence of foreign forces and will continue their armed jihad under Mullah Omar's leadership until the ouster of foreign forces," Agha said.

Not until an event forecasted like the article happens.

War
Peace
Prosperity
Depression

All are conditions competing for the voters attention - once they get it - then the politcian responds - but not until

Just me talking  - It will always be deemed "a surprise" - and if it ever happens many things could flow - but it won`t be seen as a response via military means. I suspect the politician sees very little military in the solution.

My take? No, not until something actually happens here. It's still all too far away for the average Canuck. But, should an attack happen, the gen. pop. will likely blame the CF and Gov't for "creating" the situation by getting involved in "Bush's imperialist war" and staying in AFG. rather than blaming AQ. Western society has become somewhat wierd that way.

Exactly right. Unfortunately if something were to happen here, which I personally think is "when" not "if", the general left leaning population will blame it on the PC's for their so called " President Bush following", which is small-minded crap. People in this country are still under the false impression that nothing will happen to us because, well, we're Canadian, loved all over the world. Treat the insurgent immigrant supporters nice and they won't crap in their own back yard theory. I personaly don't agree with the Iraq action of the U.S., never have. Will Afghanistan ever be stable? I really doubt it, it is the middle east after all. BUT, all that doesn't matter. What matters to me is supporting troops where ever they are. Governments commit troops, not the military. Thank God for the PC's and Gen. Hilliard. Sorry if I got off topic, our son got back from 'Ghan this summer and is commited to go back in 2008. I fully support our boys even if I doubt the overall mission.
