Testing and more testing?

So I guess this is kind of a question about the efficiency of the CF.

I did my aptitude test today and when it was all over the invigilator came back and we worked through some paperwork. She said, "The fact that I haven't asked anyone to leave is good, it means you all qualified for atleast one of your trades."

I put down two trades for my DEO application. Pilot, and Armour.

Ofcourse pilot takes additional medical testing, and I've been asked to go and get those tests. Would the CF send me to get those tests if I had only scored high enough to get the Armour, and not the Pilot? It seems like they wouldn't. But maybe no one thought to cross off "Pilot" when/if I didn't get high enough on the aptitude?

Anyone provide me any insight to how efficient the system is and if they would clue in that I don't need the additional medical if I by chance didn't mark high enough to get Pilot?

Thanksinadvance.

After you finish your aptitude test, you get a printed list of all the trades you qualify for. If I recall correctly, you write down up to three of those listed trades. If your list of trades is long, obviously you scored well.

We didn't get shown anything like that after our test...

I guess I'll have to call tomorrow and see if I can find out.

either did any of the guys that I wrote with. they pulled 2 of us aside and told us we qualified for everything...but no list.

Well I know one guy left early because of drug use, and another guy failed the part 1 of the medical and left... so it would seem they are fairly efficient at not spending resources and time on people who don't meet the mark in the preliminary portions of testing. So I'm crossing my fingers that they wouldn't send me off for my aircrew optomitrist test, and blood workup if I had no chance.

IMO if you applied for two and only one requires the further testing you've been asked to undergo, then you scored high enough on your aptitude test to warrant moving you further along the application process for pilot.

If in doubt, call the recruiting centre or your recruiter and ask. Or, wait until your interview and you will be told then.

As a DEO entry officer you do not write the CFAT to see what occupations you are eligible for, you write the test to see if you meet the minimum to be a CF officer.  Due to the fact that DEOs already have proven their learning ability by completing an university degree they don't even have to meet this minimum.  However, the better you do on the test the more suitable you become.

I guarantee that we are not going to waste resources by having you do additional medical testing if it is not needed and perhaps the system will clue in when you do your interview.

Thanks for the answers guys. I've got my aditional medicals tomorrow, and then my interview/pt on next thrusday.

Crossing my fingers that it all works out and I'm on my way to St. Jean soon enough. :)

Kincanucks, what your saying is that in scoring high enough on the CFAT, I have "qualified" for any/all officer trades in the CF? (Except of course those trades that require a specific degree like an Engineer?)

BY MEETING THE CFAT MINIMUM FOR OFFICER YOU QUALIFY, AS FAR AS THE CFAT IS CONCERNED, TO BE AN OFFICER IN THE CF.
