I began looking into joining the reserves while attending university back in December. I first contacted the Canadian Scottish regiment and recieved a application from them. I called the Canadian Scottish Regiment a few days later after i had recieved the application and spoke with another member. He informed me that the Canadian Scottish's positions for infantry officers were full. So, after hearing that, i began to look else where. My search brought me to the Rocky Mountain Rangers. After having a conversation with one of the members over the phone, i was happy to dicouver that the RMR needed Infantry officers. I was told to send my application to Victoria to be processed. I called CFRC Victoria to ask a few questions and they told me to send my application to Kamloops. I called Kamloops and told them CFRC Victoria instructed me to send my application to Kamloops. This confusion lasted for 4 days untill is was sorted out. My application was sent to CFRC Victoria to be processed on Feb 4th.
I called CFRC to confirm that they had recieved my application 2 weeks later and left a message. I recieved a call a day later from a member of the Canadian Scottish informing them that my application hasnt been processed yet. He said that because i didnt have a cover letter (some form that i dont have to fill out) it was assumed that i was applying to the Canadian Scottish. Im sure if anyone bothered to look at my application, the would have seen that i was applying to the Rocky Mountain Rangers.
So, I called up RMR in Kamloops and told them I needed a letter of recomendation (officers need one before they apply) and a cover letter. I was told by Kamloops that i should fax the letter i recieved from University College of the Cariboo confriming my conditional acceptance. So, i faxed this to RMR and waited for a call.
2 days ago, I was informed that i wouldnt be accepted for RESO because i wasnt attending university yet. I was told that i could apply for NCM and apply for Infantry officer in Jan 2006. They recommended that i have some NCM training before i become a officer.
Now, why was i told this 3 weeks after i sent in my application? Has anyone entered RESO after completing Highschool or am I the only one who has ever tried it before?
