The "VOID"

Just a quick thought:

If you do feel there is a void in your life, think long and hard about what it is. I've been a course officer for QL2 and QL3 training and can honestly say I have seen the course give direction to some. I've seen some people who had pretty messed up experiences (abuse, former convictions, wrong crowd, etc) come out of the process walking tall, ready to get on with their lives. But I've also seen some guys crash and burn, only making their situation worse as their self-confidence is shattered. If you feel that as an individual that you want a challenging career that will drive you hard and give you a group of friends for life, you've found it. If you're confused about who you are or what you honestly want, think a bit longer.

Well I'm not really confused about who I am. and i have a great family, friends and never really been challenged, every thing I've dove I'm found relative easy and found my self learning to fast and hitting and "wall" and getting bored with it ( I'm talking about my job) and i never had a job when I've woke up and said yes i get to goto work. so i guess when i say "void" i mean a lack of challenge

BTW i learn the best and have the most fun when I'm under pressure and challenged. and I'm also just getting in to the real world and unsure of what i want but a couple things are for sure i what a challenge and a meaning full career.

I'm not in the CF (yet... hoping to get into ROTP) but I'm a raised army brat. As I remember, our three-bedroom PMQ (CFB Uplands - it's in Ottawa if you don't know, but is no longer active) was $900-some the first time we were in, but it's now like $1100 or $1200, I believe. Monthly, obviously. Considering location, condition, available services, and the Ottawa housing market, that's cheaper than a similar place would be elsewhere in the city. Also, you get the benefit of being on base, and there's always a strong community feeling to that which is lacking in civi communities. You rely on your neighbours because they're your coworkers, you're all in it together.

If you're used to base-life, living in the civi world is actually a fair bit different, and it probably goes the other way as well. I miss the safety I always felt on base, and the common understanding of neighborus and friends alike. There's just something about military families....
