The War in Ukraine

If Ukraine was winning we wouldn't be here right now. Ukraine is on the road to complete destruction unless one of two things happen: the West enters the fight fully, or there is a peace deal now.

Nice crystal ball you've got there, care to share this week's winning LottoMax numbers?

And who's fault is that for the current battlefield situation? mostly ours, especially the Biden admin with slow and token aid such as 31 M1 tanks and never sending more. Ukraine is not however on the road to destruction, this isn't Afghanistan, its Vietnam, and once we pull support, Putin will rebuild then walk right in.

no wonder dutch intelligence says we have 5 years to prepare for war, its September 1938 and the Sudetenland agreement, trump will proclaim peace, and on the road to war we go.
If you have any thoughts on visiting the Baltics states you might want to move up your timelines to sometime in the next 18 months.

I'm not sure Poland will allow that to occur so easily.

Best shore up Ukraine then.

Before anybody get's into their usual "Pro russia!" stage 5 tizzy... I'm all for killing bad guys and the enemy. But I'm absolutely not for half-assed efforts. Afghan was half-assed, and Ukraine is half-assed. Only Trump of the last few POTUS' will use the hammer appropriately. Not Biden, not Obama, and certainly not Harris. This "peace deal" is step one. Trump won't be afraid to move to step two if need be.

But Russia will patiently wait for 4yrs and rebuild and viola, Ivan is dancing the Prisiadki in Lvov and the band is strumming Kalinka.

Who has steadily gained territory?
At what cost? almost a million casualties in 3 years, and their daily estimated casualty count is the highest ever according to British intelligence at well over 1000 a day. They are gaining but their units are broken, they now have battalions of wounded troops sent in as cannon fodder. They have the illusion of winning, but they aren't, strategically they lack the manpower now to conquer ukraine, and would need millions more to occupy it.

the non US members of NATO have a GDP of some 25Trillion and defence spending around 500 billion they can if they want fill the void. Lots of talk from France and even Germany now it is time to walk

The current situation can be laid at the feet of "I'll be flexible after the election" Obama and "I'm ok with a small incursion" Biden... followed by dribs and drabs of support and dump trucks of cash. Unfortunately for Russia, there is now a new POTUS who is in the very least action orientated (you must admit this), has a big ego (doesn't like losing), and has no problem swinging the stick. He is giving everyone an out right now.

any peace plan that leaves ukrainian territory under russian control and ukraine out of NATO is a win for russia. And how much do you want to bet that russia paying reparations isn't going to be on the table?
