They made it sound like Russian EW capabilities were pretty sophisticated, but now that sounds like it's not the case?

It's formidable, but they had not really taken into account the effect on their own systems. So that forced them to use more sparingly than they planned.

We constantly overestimate Enemy capabilities and diminish our own. Two fold reason, more money for equipment and R&D, as well as not building in complacency.
Besides its relative scale, can Russia support an EW cell to do DF work and jamming on a small SOF element - yes, but not over a large area - and not for long if they are getting targeted by the good guys.
A lot of issue we’ve had with Russia was because we couldn’t kill them when they fucked around, however the Ukrainians aren’t hesitant about the Find Out part.
