The War in Ukraine

Well maybe NATO should start thinking about more than just sending stuff to Ukraine. Maybe North Korea needs some munitions sent terminally.
At least now since they have declared war on Ukraine their SF can load some drones into containers bound for Seoul etc then take out any maritime shipping heading to Russia and launch a variety of UAS to hit ammo storage.

The "Peace Deal" rejected by Putin because, amongst other things, there is no international recognition of Russia's gains in Southern Ukraine.

Trump can sign for himself. He can't sign for Zelensky, or the Brits, or JEF, or NATO or the OECD. He can't even sign for Senator Kennedy and the rest of the Senate.

Russia has rejected a Ukraine war peace deal proposed by Donald Trump, the US president, because it does not grant international recognition to territory seized by Moscow’s troops.

Sergey Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, also suggested the plan did not satisfy the Kremlin’s demands to oust Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, and limit the size of Kyiv’s armed forces.

The rejection came as Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, offered a temporary, 72-hour truce next month to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe.

The White House said Mr Trump, who is pushing for a deal to be agreed this week, wanted to see a “permanent ceasefire” but said he was growing “increasingly frustrated” with the leaders of both Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine responded to Putin’s truce offer by calling for a month-long pause in the fighting to negotiate a more long-term peace settlement.

The remarks by Lavrov, the most senior Russian official to directly comment on Mr Trump’s take-it-or-leave it proposals, represent a hardening of Moscow’s position.

Russia’s lead diplomat said the “international recognition” of his country’s sovereignty over Crimea, as well as the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, which are only partially occupied by Russian forces, was “imperative”.

This bit is also interesting

“Demilitarising and de-Nazifying Ukraine is also on the agenda, along with lifting sanctions, withdrawing lawsuits and cancelling arrest warrants, as well as returning Russian assets subjected to the so-called freeze in the West,” he added.
In further maximalist demands, Lavrov said Russia would require “solid security guarantees ... in order to shield it from any threats emanating from hostile activities by Nato [and] the European Union”.

I am not sure that that any of that is on anybody's cards.

This COA seems more likely.

Britain should use the levers that are in our hands, setting an example that European allies might follow. Now is the moment to lead.

That means taking three steps: seize the Russian assets, lower the price cap for Putin’s oil, and back the Sanctions Bill now in the US Senate.

...even as Putin was waging the bloodiest European war since 1945, Europe was sitting on about €230 billion (£196 billion) of Russian state assets, lying frozen in dozens of banks.

Think what could be done with that colossal sum, amounting to 140 per cent of Ukraine’s GDP. We could give it all to Kyiv, allowing Mr Zelensky to multiply his military spending fivefold. Or we could use €100 billion to capitalise a bank to kick-start Europe’s rearmament while still leaving almost enough to triple Ukraine’s defence budget.

....

Concurrent Russian activity - Finland.

Well one things for sure, if the liberals win tonight, they will sign us on for the post war peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.

Judging from previous experience unless you can guarantee zero casualties that's pretty much a non starter.
Well its in their platform but yes, I know the 3 div commander told us if we go it would be the most dangerous mission since Korea.

pardon me, but with what? With the forces we are maintaining in Latvia I don't see a lot of extras that could be tasked with Ukraine and I don't see very many vehicles in the parking lot that could be deployed. We do have the F18s but they are not exactly top of the line
