The War in Ukraine

Holy... talk about deep. That is for sure a message being sent to Putin.
Ukraine's intelligence, special projects division is something else. There isn't a drone that I am aware of that has that kind of reach with the possible exception of a/c like the reaper and they are huge and very expensive. This operation strikes me as being more of a well executed attack by a squad of very audacious special forces types from reasonably close in.

Russians may have just outed how involved China has become in the war. Expect a response / reciprocal escalation from Ukraine and it's allies.

Further more, good. NATO members don't get invaded.

Ukraine has attacked several Russian airbases overnight, claiming over 40 aircraft have been hit on the ground. Most interestingly at least some of the damage done was via FPV drones launched from nearby vans, footage of the aftermath coming out (a couple in the article below).

It was also a very, very bad night for Russian railways.

at first i thought the airbase attack was fake but it sure looks real. Very excited for the losses to be documented

Further details, the FPV drones might have been launched remotely. This war is really going to reshape how a lot of stuff is done.

Full on James Bond type stuff.

More details from a guy who's keeping a good eye on the action:
The Spiderweb special operation in which several Russian airfields were attacked, took over a year and a half to prepare, it is reported. The operation by Security Service of Ukraine was extremely complex from a logistical standpoint. The SSU first smuggled FPV drones into Russia, followed by mobile wooden buildings later. Eventually, the drones were hidden under the roofs of these buildings, which were already placed on cargo trucks. At the right moment, the roofs of the houses were remotely opened, and the drones took off to strike Russian bombers. The photos reportedly show how the drones were prepared for the attack on Russian military airfields.Sources in the SSU emphasize that the individuals involved in this historic operation have returned to Ukraine a long time ago. So, if Russia stages any arrests, it will simply be another performance for domestic propaganda.

Maybe it'll click now for us (Canada) and the west that you don't need a whole bunch of bells an whistles on your drones, let's get pumping out cheap FPV's by the millions and slap on fiber optic or AI as needed.

I absolutely love the fact that AdruPilot was used. Didn't expect to see something I am very familiar with.

So, putting aside for a moment our collective throbbing boners for burning Russian bombers-

We’re starting to realize how COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FUCKED we currently are from a domestic force protection standpoint, right?

How easily could this be done to our C-17s or MPA? Or to our pretty new destroyers? Or a CC-330 returning a chalk home from Roto? Or a handful of commercial airports a few days before Christmas? Or the national Remembrance Day ceremony? Something on a smaller scale than this is well within reach of non-state actors.
