Give you all a little background on me while not giving away to many details.
I'm 23 years olds, a college graduate of Computer Networking and Hardware also currently enrolled again in college in the Electro Tech (Electronic) course, in my third semester out of 4, not doing so well in this course, looking into enlisting in the Canadian Army as either a Line Tech. (Electrician) or the Mobile Support Operator. Do have other choices.
I'm looking for as much info as I can find. I have read all the websites like 3 times over and have visited my local recruiting office. They answer a lot of questions but also bring up a lot of new ones for example.
Is leaning a second language required?
Could someone give me an example of some of the academic work one is responsible for while in basic training?
Is there formal Math, English, class that you're attending while also learning the â Å“need to know materialâ ??
What happens with undesirable results?

I thank you for any insight you can give me.

Huggy ;D :cdn:

I sorry I guess this shuld have been asked in the Recruiting Forum

really can't help you with your question but I can correct a statement you made......Line Tech is not an electrician. A line tech is a lineman,i.e. high voltage powerlines i.e. BC Hydro,Quebec Hydro, Nova Scotia Power. Electrician is Ed-Tech (642)  :salute:

Thank you for clarifying that little mistake, yes sorry like AB136 said Lineman.

Also thank you to whomever for moving the post  :)

also I would like to add one other question. while in basic is it like living in a dorm room (little room 2  people per room type of deal)??

Second language training is only required for to attain certain ranks (I believe it's MWO for NCMs and Maj for officers). Keep in mind that certain trades are English only, however.
The academic work in basic training is mostly what is called GSK (General Service Knowledge). This is mostly general information about the CF and topics you'll need to know about (ie. leave, charges, saluting, etc...)
It's not an academic environment where you learn general subjects just for the heck of it; it's all practical application knowledge. If you fail the tests they give you on the instructed material then you will be recoursre-coursedmeans you will have to start basic training over again with a new platoon. If you fail again you will most likely be kicked out of the military.

The accomodaccommodationssic training depends on where you do it. I highly doubt you'll ever be in a double room for your basic training though. Most recruits go to St-Jean in Quebec and stay in a wing allocated to 30 troops with each living space divided by low walls.
