Report of abduction turns out to be teens role playing
KANATA, Ont. -- Ottawa police say a report of a woman tied up and held in a car turned out to be two teenagers "role playing."
Police say they received a call from a person on Monday saying a woman was in distress in Kanata, a suburb west of Ottawa.
Police say the young woman was sitting in a black Fiat convertible, her mouth was covered by duct tape and her hands were bound by duct tape, and tied to the head rest.
Police called in the canine unit and tactical officers and searched for the vehicle.
The teen was located at a Stittsville address, and police say the initial investigation shows the man and woman, both 18-years-old, are in a relationship and were role playing.
The matter has been turned over to the Partner Assault Unit for further investigation.
"Partner Assault Unit?"  WTF?  I mean, assault is assault, but do we really need specialised units for specialised crimes?  What's next?  The "Bus Beheading Unit?" ::)

Anyway, to each their own.  Heard this on the Bear this morning.  Odd!

I wonder if the use of the word "partner" indicates that it was partners abusing each other or that the assault unit is a partner of the Ottawa police??  ???

Either way, I agree with your "WTF?" assessment.  I would have charged the both of them with public mischief and had done with it.  What if these had been people into cutting each other for pleasure?  Could they have been arrested with some kind of weapons charge?  You want to do your role playing and kinky games, do it out of the public's eye.

Yeah, but wouldn't that take away some of the 'kink' factor?  ;D

Police organizations having officers who specialize in specific areas and trained to deal with unique situations is nothing new.  Drug squads?  Homocide?  Accident investigation?  Robbery?  Sexual assault?

the OPS's Partner Assault Unit job is:
investigating partner assaults and domestic conflict;
investigating custody and access orders, as well as parental abductions; and
conducting criminal harassment investigations relating to partner abuse

The OPS has obviously concluded that domestic violence rates a dedicated allocation of resources to deal with the problem.  It is unlikely that they are the only police service in Canada to reach that conclusion.

Perhaps an investigation is needed to determine that both participants in this incident are truly "willing" participants.

Thank you for that, Blackadder.  I guess what I said didn't accurately convey what I was thinking.  I guess I just saw another block in the Law and Order empire.  Never even thought about the obvious "specialised" homicide departments, and so forth (vice, robbery, gangs, etc)

It's early and I've already learned something today!

Perhaps if these kdis want more thrills in life they should try Franks Red Hot Sauce........

You just won this discussion. Kudos to you.  ;D

Too funny, who hasn't done some public acts to enhance the "kink" factor.  >:D

He should have thrown her in the trunk!
