Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

I could care less where he goes on vacation.

It’s funny that that annoys people though.

However he left in the dead of night without addressing the public or anything and avoided planned traditional media interviews.

He’s running.
Fuck me again. This awkward, we see eye to eye on this and my opinion is almost the same.

Agreed on the running part.

We had a premier not long ago (Conservative) who was vilified for going on vacation in Costa Rica (IIRC) and owning a 5 million dollar home.

Yeah I agree - where he goes on vacay is his business and no one else's.

And he's running and hiding....

He is the leader of a G7 nation and there is something called "TIMING"

This is a shit time to zip out on vacation. Do you seriously not see this?
Sure, and I think he should have resigned then buggered off, but we'll still get people whinging about PMs vacation costs , repairs to official residence etc and other shit that is just part of the cost of doing business.

It's embarrassingly petty and small minded.

The PM has to travel via either 412 or 437 Sqns to places, in case they have to return fast for whatever reason. They can’t just fly Air Canada.

I mean, if I can figure out how to charter a Challenger (and I had the money), I’d do it for kicks.
If the British P.M. can and does fly Commercial then Canada's can and should as well. This 'rule' of VVIP flight services by RCAF only certainly preserves 412's resources while other parts of the RCAF , not so much.

I think what really got people wrapped up was he spent months at a time in Costa Rica while claiming he was still running the province from down there. It was more like “Work from Another Country” than “Work from Home”.

I didn’t begrudge his place in Costa Rica or his $5 million house. If you can get rich and get that stuff, that’s great. But when you’re living out of the country for months on end and tell me you’re still running the province…that sounds a little dodgy to me.

You can fly from London to virtually every European capital in 1-2 hours and flights are plentiful. Try doing that out of Ottawa.

And no, the British PM does not always fly commercial - typically only on vacation. There are RAF and contracted VIP aircraft that are also used depending on the circumstances for official use.

I'm all for the Government not wasting our money but as @Navy_Pete said above there are some expenses that a serious country just should accept.

Yes they do fly commercial even if not on vacation and I confess to not knowing what the triggers are for civilian air passage vs military transport.

Boris Johnson flew to the US when he was PM using BA. Several times in fact.

But the UK PM also uses RAF aircraft as well.
That being said, is there any actual confirmation Trudeau is in Hawaii or is it just speculation because an RCAF transport jet flew there perhaps for an actual military purpose.

Awaiting the first pic of him walking on the beach from an eagle eyed snowbird.

Keir Starmer flies commercial economy if in Europe.
Seen coverage of BoJo on commercial flights, but I don't know if the incumbent's the best comparitor. If he flew biz class in the UK when he headed the Crown Prosecution Service, I'm guessing his tastes may not have cheapened as PM - shades of Team Orange's JS? :)

On these forums you are the only one bringing up costs.

The first response you had was about the exchange rate, and then him not paying the costs so he doesn't care anyway, so that's what I was responding to. (Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.))

I agree he's running away, but the very first complain from someone else was cost, not him buggering off, which is what I find ridiculous every time it comes up.

It's not new, they did it to Harper, which was bullshit then, and I'm sure they'll keep doing it to the next PM, which will still be bullshit.
