Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

The continuity of the Liberals?

Are they delusional? The reason the CPC is polling @45% is because Canadians are tired of the Liberal brand of continuity…
Well, maybe I'm naive, but I see the glass at least 1/4 full hearing a cabinet minister saying out loud "we're not ready" on ANY front. Small steps, no?
... if it comes around to him again he’s got no choice but to go all in.
If all remains as is, for sure - but even you said a lot's happened in 2 weeks. I suspect an AWFUL lot could change quite quickly - and BIGLY - if the full weight of tariffs fall on 21 January (32 days from this post & counting). And if the impact over the first few weeks is as big as a few of the commentariat say, it will allow Team Orange's coach enough wiggle room to say, "now's not the time." I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but it ain't impossible.

Yeah. At this point it’s just a gut feel, but I think if anything wild is gonna happen it’ll be in the next three weeks.

That's nice.

The House has been adjourned by the Speaker. Since Parliament has neither been prorogued nor dissolved, the power to reconvene the House rests with the Speaker.
Be that as it may, appearances do matter. If the media makes enough noise about this, it will become yet another strike against an unpopular PM that appears to be clinging to power for nothing more than his ego.

It can only torpedo the LPC the longer he lingers.

Mmmk.... except it is not a matter of the PM "clinging to power" but one of everyone adhering to established parliamentary procedures as set out in the standing orders.

If anyone is to blame, its both PMJT for not having the gumption to resign while Parliament was still in session and Jagmeet Singh waiting until the House adjourned to rattle his sabre.

It can only torpedo the LPC the longer he lingers.
Agreed, and I am certain the GG is waiting to exhale just as much as the next Canadian; however, we do have a process to follow.

The fact that the Leader of HMLO is using theatrics that play to the ignorance of most Canadians is beneath him.

Why do you say that? Hasn’t been beneath him for years. Both the PM and the leader of the Opposition have been pandering to the social media clicks of low-info voters for years. The PM’s sanctimonious platitudes have long been meaningless. So too have the leader of the opposition’s foot-stoping demands.

*beneath all of them.

Better? I find all of the clickbait theatrical crap cringey. It reeks of desperation and weak policy, no matter the party it comes from.

Sure...

Lingering after the majority of Canadians want you gone, while under a slow-time caucas, revolt is clinging to power, even if it's entirely within the rules.

I never said he was illegally clinging to power.

Until such time that a confidence motion fails and an election says otherwise, "most Canadians" aren't what dictates who can legitimately govern. Its shitty, but it's parliamentary democracy within a constitutional monarchy.

I never said he was illegally clinging to power.
Nor did anyone else. He is still the legitimate Head of Government... even if he can't read the writing on the wall, ceiling, floors, windows, urinals telling him to get lost.
