Like JT cuts in line, or his Close Protection cuts in line?Apparently his entourage shoves people out of the way and cuts in line.
The first answer looks bad, the second answer is them doing their jobs.

The problem is, the more rough the CP detail is, the more they radicalize people against all politicians and "elites".Like JT cuts in line, or his Close Protection cuts in line?

CP cutting in line for someone on vacation is still a dick move.
And what's worse than the lack of class- the lack of any semblance of panache or wit.I don't care who you are or what you think... that person is a classless piece of trash for doing that.
Are they operated as a separate entity now?RCMP protective has been poaching cops for years ever since they finally got their raise.
A former OPP boss did a little time in security branch on the Lt. Gov. detail during Pauline McGibbon's tenure. He said it was like going shopping with your grandmother, every day.A much nicer gig sounds like guarding someone like former First-Lady Bess Truman.

My understanding is RCMP protective ops is its own distinctive business line within RCMP, and people can spend a whole career there -
And likely won't. In spite of their myths, the US didn't get rid of royalty - they just replaced it with their own. Here, once you are out of power you are simply a former politician unless their is some credible threat or intelligence that would warrant protection.I don't think Canada has anything similar - yet.
But, I think it would be pleasant to work for ( some ) of these people - like President and ( the late ) Mrs. Carter after they retire from politics.
President Carter has had a Secret Service detail for half a century.
I think Lady Bird Johnson had hers for about 45 years. From what I read, she was also very nice to work for.

Protection for the ( current ) President and Vice President of the United States is mandatory. All other individuals entitled to our protection may decline security if they choose.
That can be attractive to someone sitting on years of front line policing who wants to do something easier and different.
I used to drink/party in the bars in downtown Detroit back in the early 90’s - I had eyes on the back of my head back then…My wife’s cousin was RCMP security for a number of years and protected a number of high profile national and international politicians. I think he had eyes in the back of his head.

One should always have compassion for any child, where any parent no matter their notoriety or lack thereof, bring potentially negative attention to their children.I feel sorry for his kids if they have to witness the hatred people have for him.
Fairly strong judgmental words, n’est-ce pas? Maybe she has class, or a class, lower-class? Maybe she had a family business, or herself previously middle-class, career or QOL destroyed by deliberate actions by the PM and doesn’t care if people judge her for telling off the person she feels has so negatively impacted her life. Who knows? I won’t judge her, since she wasn’t showing off a F*CK TRUDEAU flag or anything like that…just exercising her Charter Right to express herself.I don't care who you are or what you think... that person is a classless piece of trash for doing that.
I hear tell from folks in POCC that your understanding is pretty good…My understanding is RCMP protective ops is its own distinctive business line within RCMP, and people can spend a whole career there - although many still regularly move in and out. They’re still normal mounties though. I just meant that they’ve been direct hiring lateral officers right into protective. So a guy on the road with, say, Ottawa Police might lateral over knowing that they’re going to protective in Ottawa, not rolling the dice on going to the prairies.
Their close protections units get a fair bit of travel, decent schedules, easy overtime, and they aren’t dealing with the usual front line policing crap. That can be attractive to someone sitting on years of front line policing who wants to do something easier and different.
…well, other than his wrecked back…He never had it so good.
Other than after some immediate post-Depot penance, it would seem that there can be de facto long-term service in Protective Operations.I don't think Canada has anything similar - yet.
I never did it full-time but was on our 'spare board' when the OPP security branch needed extra bodies. Mostly driver/motorcade but the occasional bodyguard when someone was guest of the province (usually another premier) and site security. You are right that there is no midnights, no radio calls and regular overtime (you're on so long as your principal is on) but it is the epitome of an 'hurry up and wait' or 'hours of boredom interrupted by moments of excitement' type of assignment. My understanding is RCMP protective ops is its own distinctive business line within RCMP, and people can spend a whole career there - although many still regularly move in and out. I think it will be Trudeau. I see no sign of him leaving on his own accord. Even if caucus does vote him off the island, I see him saying “That’s nice” and continuing on as normal. The question right now is who will be the Harris / Campbell to Trudeau's Biden / Mulroney.
I think eventually even the advisors who drove the Ontario Liberal Party to oblivion who now advise & direct him will admit the problem and convince him to (gracelessly) withdraw, at which point he will become the John Diefenbaker of the LPC, perpetually undermining his successors.I think it will be Trudeau. He is living in his own reality distortion field. Others have said this about him even before he entered politics.
