That right there is why a lot of people prefer renting out a few days/weeks at a time rather than over mid-to-longer term. Big structural thing that varies from province to province, but can generally put a WHOLE lot more workload on a rental landlord than on an AirBnB operator.

... there's a big difference between selling your rental property for quick cash, and someone who's got 8 or 9 properties they are managing but because it's Airbnb aren't properly reporting for tax purposes. Amending regulations to adjust for changing times isn't a bad thing on its own.

Given how many more units are going into short-term Airbnb-ville compared to units opening to longer-term tenant rentals, I suspect the former has a LOT less regulation involved. I was very lucky having great tenants for 10 years, but after hearing horror stories about bad tenants, I just sold the family house. And this was 20+ years ago, so tenant-landlord legislation has been a deterrent to potential landlords for some time now - and that appears to be the case (in Ontario, anyway) under both Team Red and Team Blue franchises.

Yep. I had a great tenant for 5 years. But I wasn’t going to risk getting a crappy one so I opted to sell my condo instead of dealing with the hassle.

Interesting point about the LPC Constitution:
“…Section 44 of the Liberal Party's constitution requires that the party's National Board of Directors select an Interim Leader in the event that their present leader triggers a leadership race. However, nothing in that document expressly prohibits that Interim Leader from being the person who just announced their intent to resign.”

That would be a pretty Machiavellian way to stay alive for a while (at least 117 days (27+90 per sections 44.d. and 45.c.) from the day that Trudeau advises Shanahan of his intention ‘not to be the permanent leader of the LPC.’

She already fully explained what happened. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean she hasn't answered the questions. She just didn't do it to your satisfaction.

Your personal distrust is clouding your position on what is a pretty good assessment of what is happening with the liberal conundrum. An assessment that rings true no matter who wrote it.

Because she was considering a run at the UCP leadership? With all that's come out lately about Indian interference, that's a clear lie, the timing of the phone calls between her and the Indian high commission, and her refusal to answer questions about the phone calls, and even running away from reporters is beyond suspicious. So no she didn't fully explain at all, especially in light of new information. If this was a liberal, it would be talked about every single day, seems we give the conservatives a free pass on everything because we all hate Trudeau.

I’ll be curious to see what comes of the “all members” caucus meeting on Wednesday. Apparently it’s scheduled to be a long one. We’ll probably see some decent leaks Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

I don’t think we’re anywhere close to ‘no influence’ yet, not by a long shot, but enough to hurt investor confidence for those who have money in that world and aren’t fully in to dancing with China to make their money. Frankly, there is a lot more money to be made with investments linked more closely to our closest neighbor, but that doesn’t fit with some people’s….idiom…
