Perspective.Don’t pretend like having a China-friendly political, cyber and industrial threat prone neighbour to its north hasn’t been an advantage for the US. Simply look at how much they spend securing the southern border vs the northern one.
OTOH, absorption of Canada means absorbing active elements of the CCP and PLA already operating here within the institutions of Canada. Is the FBI prepared for the scale of investigation and purge necessary to render Canada a safe acquisition. After decades of dragging ass on defence and security, and Canada laughing off how we can ride the US coat tails... and now considering the major world disruptions going on including the CCP playing deep inside our house - I'm guess the US might be thinking if Canada won't secure itself (and by extension contribute to North American security), the US will do it for us...
I’ve been arguing for a long time that he is not simply posturing for a good bargaining position in the upcoming trade talks. The man is dangerous and, while keeping a smile on his face, will all but destroy this country to get his way. It is not simply about getting economic and military security for the U.S. It’s about feeding his sick ego. With the comments he’s making about taking over Canada, our government should at the very least recall our ambassador and if necessary break off diplomatic relations once he takes office. Yes, the U.S. is our biggest trading partner but Canada has ways to hurt the U.S.as well.I used to think his “51st state” talk was trolling Trudeau. Now I’m not so sure.
Even before this I was convinced we’re getting hit with massive tariffs no matter who our government is or what we do to placate the Mango Mussolini. I haven’t seen anything to dissuade me of this.
Having said that, we should still be doing the things David Asher was talking about in the Globe and CBC just for our own national interest.
But this is not the time for the Liberals to have a leisurely navel-gazing deliberation on their party’s future while they are still the government. We need an election yesterday.
Isolationism leaves gaps to be filled by other power,Perspective.
from what I have read it requires a unanimous consent from parliament to re-instate legislation after parliament has been prorogued. If that is the case, I can't see the conservatives giving their blessing on the continuation of anything that doesn't entail receiving the full unredacted information re: the green fundsWow. Surprised…not surprised
CRA can’t find all the $15B of CERB/IE-ERB/CESB overpayments….but it has no problem moving ahead with un-voted Capital Gains tax increases. Government prorogued? Not a problem. CRA says the government ‘intended’ to increase taxes within a side note in an earlier ways and means motion, so just as good as one of those Bills passed through that pesky and time consuming three readings and a vote each in the House of Commons and Senate for approval. Also, if future governments (like, say the Parliament that forms on March 25 led by Interim Liberal Leader and Acting-PM….Justin Trudeau, approve the tax increases, CRA has saved time grabbing more money from Canadians. Bravo CRA
CRA to continue with capital tax changes despite prorogation: finance department
The federal government says the Canada Revenue Agency will continue to administer the capital gains tax, even though it hasn’t passed in Parliament, which is prorogued until March 24.www.thecanadianpressnews.ca
Trump literally peddled the kremlin narrative today that NATO forced Russia to invade Ukraine, he may not be directly under russia's thumb but the people advising him sure areTrump’s handler (Putin)
Trump is dangerous and will not make this world a better place.
The last time he was POTUS, there were no new wars and a lot of terrorists sent to paradise. He has a past record to look at. He didn't blow up the world then and I doubt he'll do it this time.
I'm not trying to convince you of anything. We can agree to disagree though.

so russia gets to dictate the foreign policy of other nations? former eastern block countries joined NATO because they didn't want to be invaded by russia again. Chechnya, Dagistan, Georgia and Ukraine proved them rightHas NATO crept ever closer to Russian borders over the years, or has Russia advanced closer to NATO borders?
I'd drop some money to support that.If I’m not mistaken, several people from CCFR are entering the race and are encouraging the entire membership to join and vote.
