Trump administration 2024-2028

Cope? I’m straight up laughing at the picks now, especially with Gaetz. I was originally baffled at the win, then realized after “no Haley or Pompeo” that Trump was serious about picking loyalty over competency. Then the pick for SECDEF caused a few GOPs to question the choice. And now Gaetz and Gabbard.
Then everyone's happy. I'm enjoying the reactions to the picks.
When people from the party that won publicly airs their doubts about a Cabinet pick, within days of the win, that is not the sign of a united party.
I'd be curious who thought the party was united in the first place. Republican disunity has been a popular talking point for months. It was wishfully thought by some that it might cost them the presidency.
I can’t wait to see who gets nominated as Secretary of State. Laura Loomer? Or is she more of a Department of Education pick? :ROFLMAO:
Rubio has already been picked by Trump for nomination to State. Education will likely be someone Trump thinks can downsize it.

What part of what I have said is ludicrous? I staked a claim that Trump will again, as he has in the past, make nepotism appointments to family. Please kindly explain what of this is ‘coping’ or ‘ludicrous’ or ‘fantastic’? The best predictor of future behaviour is past performance. We literally have his actual record to work on. It doesn’t and cannot get more fact based than this when trying to anticipate something yet to come.

If he goes and again appoints Kushner, or Ivanka, or any of his other kids to administration positions will you eat your words on this?
No. I'm looking at all the claims ("all this feverish speculation", pages of it) people here are making or passing on. Many of them are absurd. At least we can agree that his past record should matter. I'd extend that to include the past record of every institution and agency. The Fascist-Practically-Hitler that Biden cordially hosted at the White House and that Congress will solemnly certify and swear in isn't going to have his way everywhere commensurate with the rhetoric.

You’re being silly. Posting history on this site will clearly show that several of these appointees have been laughingstocks for years.
That is not something reserved for those people. Democrats, liberals, even the odd conservative. English, French, German. They all have 'em.
Of course, posting history also shows there are a number of people here that will latch onto any anti Trump tit, no matter how unqualified they are to judge, simply because they think they are smarter than everyone else. Whether several of these appointees are a laughingstock or not is in the eye of the beholder and how subjective they are being. Because they say it, doesn't make it so.

It's all perspective.

It was “MAGA” vs “everyone else in the GOP”. Those publicly speaking out against Trump during the campaign (Haley, Christie, etc) fell back in line pretty quick.

Ah yes, forgot about that. The WTF-ness of the other picks made me forget for a bit.

Well if we’re talking perspective, then “unqualified to judge” who is a laughingstock is also a perspective. :sneaky:

Anyone can see who he is planning to appoint and comment on how dumb it is given the appointee's lack of qualification/past trouble with the law/willingness to get down on their knees for putin. To think the bronzered calf is infallible just because he got elected is ridiculous.
Nobody said he's infallible. You can say what you want, but that's just for you. You are wholly unqualified to judge the qualifications of anyone in the US government. Get down on their knees for putin? That just proves my point.

As we speak of perspective, I remember that you literally crossed into a foreign country to volunteer for his campaign, where you can’t even cast a ballot. You’re a self professed devotee of his and will curse out anyone who dare suggest different, and are as much an adherent to his cult of personality as anyone. You’ve never shown a hint of acceptance that he could do any wrong.

So, sometimes the beholders are wearing blinders that no facts seem able to shine through.

As I said, those are some GOP folks who probably won’t be getting a Christmas card from the WH in Christmas 2025.

Some will call it wishful thinking, but it would be hilarious if the disunity at this early stage results in an internal revolt within the GOP.

One can dream…

If we're done talking about the administration and just want to point out personal biases I can lock this up. Emotional, personal attacks got politics removed here for a while in case anyone remembers.

The laughingstock to a handful of people on this site who were wildly wrong about American politics. Who’s laughing now?

What do you think that means?

I think it means that they understand the importance of closing ranks, because there is more at stake than the presidency. Winning matters. I have a week of watching politicians and pundits lose their composure on TV (I don't normally watch TV news) that confirms how very, very, very much winning matters.

The follow-up to that is that almost all of the points people try to toss up about people not being consistent or principled in some way are just FUD to militate against forming that unified party capable of winning.

Well, that's partisan politics. One man's "they hate them because they hate him/her" is another man's "they should hate them because the buck for hiring/appointing them stops with him/her."

I'd guess people who didn't like any of Obama's or Clinton's or Biden's appointees painstakingly agonized over the pro's and con's of each individual before pulling out the broad brush on them, either.
I'm simply going off past performance of anti Trumpers on this site. This site is an absolute hive of partisan politics and biases. Doesn't matter the side. Your prose may make sense if there wasn't so much participation in broad brush accusations on here. It only applies to the odd outlier though. Everyone would love to think of themselves as righteous and fair, but they aren't. And I'll include myself.

I’m still laughing at the GOP politicians saying “wait what?” At Gaetz’s pick. In the Guardian’s article, the GOP comments were more scathing than the Dem ones.

Also, in a complete coincidence I’m sure, Gaetz resigns from the House before an Ethics Committee report on him was to be released on Friday.

we are. The party of "law and order" has not only got a 34 count felon elected president now that felon has nominated someone who has been investigated for sex trafficking minors to be the country's AG. The hypocrisy is pretty funny.

You can say what you want, but that's just for you.
It is? I was assured that me posting on this website would alter the course of world events. I want to speak to management.

You are wholly unqualified to judge the qualifications of anyone in the US government.
you don't need to be a super-genius to see the hypocrisy in nominating an alleged sex trafficker to be the AG.

Typical of your normal responses. Actually I didn't. The only poll for me was too far away. Besides, it's legal and allowed. And I didn’t have to go over to volunteer. There is US Republican organizations in Canada.Ive stated before, what happens over there is directly tied to what happens where I live. More so than almost anyone here. Your attempt to shame me is childish and immature, but it's a favorite tactic of yours. Last I looked, and in spite of our current government, it is still a free country. I also volunteer on this side for polls. What do you do? As for the rest, I never ever said I wasn't biased. I thought my actions spoke to that. But, just to make you happy, I see no redeeming value in either our liberals and their democrats. I have always, my whole voting life, voted Conservative and see no reason to change. Biased enough for you?

Yup, and some are starting to sound like Rachel Maddow, Joy Ried, Morning Joe and the View, lamenting over their Bag- O - Hammers choice for POTUS.

What shaming? You told us you volunteered to work phones and polling stations; I took that at face value, having no reason to think you didn’t follow through. It was too far away for you to do so- fair enough. My point about how thoroughly you adhere to Trump and his ideology remains valid. It’s simply something for the rest of us to bear in mind when you speak on the subject- you don’t have the ability to assess his actions objectively. Facts are facts and I was simply outlining some. If my intent had been a personal attack, there would have been much more said, and no shred of doubt about it.

It’s quite enjoyable watching the reactions to this election and everything after. Talk about being totally unable to read a room.

That aside, the establishment isn’t done yet. They’ll continue to try and ruin this administration. Perhaps another summer of peace to kick things off? I will not be surprised if Trump gets taken out JFK style… and a lot of people here who are upset now won’t be able to conceal their glee.

The Outlaw President has a nice ring to it.

There have been too many absurd allegations, the left ought realize that sort of thing gets watered down.
