Trump administration 2024-2028

Is what Robert Kennedy said about vaccines not being tested as described accurate or is he lying about it?

He's an idiot... viz:

Vaccines are among the safest medical products available. Vaccine side effects are usually mild (like a sore arm or mild fever) and go away in a few days. Serious side effects are very rare.

Only vaccines that are proven safe, effective, and of high quality are approved for use in Canada.

Here are some important things to know about vaccine safety:

  • The vaccine approval process is more stringent than most drugs available in Canada.
  • It can take up to ten years or longer for a vaccine to be developed, tested, and approved by Health Canada. Occasionally, the process can be expedited (happen more quickly) if a vaccine is urgently needed (for example, during a pandemic). No safety steps are skipped in these cases, and the vaccine must meet all the same safety requirements. An example is COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Health Canada only approves a vaccine if it is safe, works, meets manufacturing standards, and the benefits outweigh the risks.
  • Because vaccines are given to healthy people, including children, they are held to the highest safety standard—even higher than most drugs used for treatment.
  • Like any medicine or supplement (including vitamins), vaccines can cause side effects. Usually vaccine side effects are minor, such as a sore arm or mild fever, and go away quickly. Many people who receive vaccines have no side effects at all. Serious side effects are very rare.
  • A vaccine’s safety is continuously monitored following its approval.
  • Canada has several advanced systems in place (at the local, provincial, and national levels) to carefully monitor the safety of vaccines and detect any safety concerns.
  • In the rare event that a lot (batch) of vaccines result in an unexpected side effect, these systems can ensure that the rest is not used.

I don't touch the vaccine issue because too many people in the whole damn world speak out of turn and without facts (reminds me of university sociology students discussing military tactics).
That being said, I am fortunate enough to have met a very well known immunologist who is now retired (I won't name drop without talking to him first), his specialty was the anthrax virus and defence against it (he did a lot of work for DRDC). He gave me some interesting tips.

There are some vaccines that are very vital and we should get, they are human killers. Not COVID-19 by the way. I think he meant like polio and some of the other nasty bastards.

Then there is the issue with the covid-19 vaccines. Its something called a spike protein rNA which to dumb it down so even I understand, it sends a message to your RNA to make proteins that attack the virus. The problem is, they don't really shut off and the side effects are unpredictable.

My wife and I got our two doses of COVID19 and 1 booster. She was fine. I had a horrible reaction on my booster, including a extremely high heart palpitations and severe difficulty breathing. To Emerg I go. The best answer my family Doc tells me is "no more covid shots for now"

My forty seven cents

the spike protein is a protrusion on the viral shell that mediates entry of the viral RNA into the cell
the mRNA in the vaccine is taken up by the cell to produce the coded section of the spike protein in the ribosome via rRNA and tRNA that bring the amino acids that compose the protein
that spike protein section is then expressed on the surface of the cell as a foreign antigen for the immune system to recognize and then produce specific antibodies for
the antibodies then bind to the section of the spike protein of the virus interfering with virus-host binding and identifying the virus for easier destruction

Advocating against the polio vaccine is an impressive commitment to ideology over facts and science.

I read that in the 1950's the only thing Americans feared more than polio was the atomic bomb.

I can’t offhand think of a health policy less controversial or more factually supported than polio vaccination.

The Cutter incident put a fright into people. By the time our turn for the vaccine came, they gave our class the Sabin vaccine, rather than the Salk vaccine.

My wife had polio as a kid,

This course of action this idiot is advocating is indefensible and downright dangerous. It’s incredibly stupid.

Yes, incredibly.

I am old enough to remember when iron lungs were fairly commonplace ...

I am old enough to remember lifting polio victims out of their iron lungs - in their front parlour / living rooms at home - back in the early 1970's.

Political nepo-babies are one reason I prefer pro sports.

Yes, Bronny James plays way out of his league. But, that is the exception that proves the rule.

I was reading why Japan was so sucessful with the COVID vaccine.

May be relevant to polio vaccination hesitancy,

Another key difference with America and Europe is that vaccines have not become political in Japan.

"We don't have any politicisation here," says Prof Shibuya. "It is not being viewed through the lens of freedom or individual rights. The general public hasn't gone in for any conspiracy theories."

We tend to forget, as part of this discussion, that we ourselves didn't get anywhere near as many vaccinations when we were babies as babies do now, and we turned out just fine for the most part...so it is a fair question to ask/discuss.

Except for the ones that didn't because they either died young, had shortened life spans, had permanent physical disabilities or (in the case of rubella) were spontaneously aborted (miscarriage). We don't need to "forget" them because we never knew them - unless it affected a family member. Of course we didn't get many vaccinations because they hadn't been developed yet (if you are of the same vintage as me). It was not uncommon for some parents to deliberately expose their children to other children who were going through measles, mumps and chickenpox (the MM and V of MMRV vaccine) - their form of vaccinating. Rubella (German measles) was such a terrifying threat that when several of us reported on sick parade on the graduation day at Cornwallis with what they diagnosed as Rubella, we were not permitted to be on grad parade or anywhere near there because of the faint possibility that a family member spectator was pregnant.

And then there's TB...

Not directly related to non-vaccination as the only Canadian jurisdictions that still have BCG vaccination on their schedule are NWT and Nunavut. You could always identify Newfoundlanders and Quebecois of a certain age because their Mantoux test (TB skin test) would be positive. Back in the day (1940s to 1970s) beside those two provinces and some communities in the Arctic, it was once routine for military medical and nursing personnel posted to northern areas to receive the BCG vaccine because of our secondary role of providing service to First Nations.

For those taking notes, Trump and Musk aren’t in govt yet. But I’m sure the US military and govt folks who voted for him will love not getting paid over Christmas.

Again - it boggles my mind how the US military is ok with their pay just being stopped if their govt doesn’t reach a resolution for their budget every year.

You could probably label me an agnostic vaxxer. But I am an openly anti COVID vaxxer. I only took it to protect my familys livelihood and my pension.

But before This deployment when we did our needle parade... Well it's the first time in 8 deployments were the vaccination nurse didn't give me anything, and my book is full.

Yikes...

As I’ve said before and will keep saying, we’re watching an oligarchy being built in real time. Which a lot of us probably to some extend anticipated- but the way Musk is diving in so blatantly and openly was a bit of a wild card.

That whole Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution might get in his way.... unless they manage to amend the hell out of it during Trump's term.
Or, like in eras past, he is the “Grand Vizier” and Trump is the mouthpiece.

Either way, I’m waiting to see how long those two egos manage to get along before the friction starts. I wouldn’t say the hashtag is trending (yet) but it wasn’t my idea.

Credit. Credit please.

US Presidential Election 2024 - Trump vs Harris - Vote Hard with a Vengence

The extent to which I underestimated Elon Musk has been eye opening. We all look through things through our own lenses, mine was as a business person, the soundness of his decisions with respect to actual business performance and fundamentals within the confines of ethical behaviour. But that is not the game he is playing- at all. And he's winning his game.
