Trump administration 2024-2028

They rescinded it because they immediately got slapped in court. The executive was transgressing on Congress’ appropriations and spending authority. This was not going to go well for them.

I think fights over division of powers between branches and levels is going to be a recurring theme. Anyone who takes issue with our domestic concentration of power in the PMO really needs to recognize that the attempts to seize and consolidate power in the U.S. federal executive is going to put that to shame.
Whatever centralization of power our PMO thinks it has, it has nothing compared to the 'Presidential Pardon' ability. A chance for each and every President to become Caesar near the end of their term. I can't help but have this imagine of Amon Goeth in Schindler's List staring at himself in the mirror and saying - 'I pardon you'.......

Opinions vary. Clearly the last incumbent of that post didn't have widespread support either. For a country that is the fattest and sickest of the G's, there sure seems to be a lot of opposition to change.
A fair number of the critics of the last incumbent believed that man walked on the earth with the dinosaurs, so that's not saying much.

Trump leading the way. Some think Canada should also withdraw from the WHO.

Instead of aligning with this compromised organization, Canada might consider spearheading a NATO-like health alliance with democratic nations, focusing on genuine public health, free from the puppet strings of authoritarian regimes like China’s. It’s high time we acknowledge that the WHO has become more a part of the problem than the solution.

Can’t say I disagree. But the US seems to be headed in the other direction when it comes to public health…

Away from obesity and chronic illness?
Vaccines, fluoride in water systems, across the board deregulation etc

Not to mention overall pull back from foreign aid designed exactly to help with public health initiatives.

It’s a good idea but will never see the light of day

As someone whose property is on chlorinated water and still on BWA for 6 months of the year, I do wonder if we have large under reported community illnesses from polluted and infected drinking water.

Yeah, that's one solution ...
... and more details on the "let the troops who didn't want to get a shot back in" thing

More proof that you can love your job but it doesn’t have to love you back …

Gitmo? Are they friggin’ serious?

Why not? It sounds like another great real estate development deal by the Trump Corporation ;)

Trump to build mass detention facility at Guantanamo Bay for 30,000 migrants

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump ordered his administration Wednesday to begin preparations on building a detention facility at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to house up to 30,000 migrants detained for being in the U.S. illegally.

Trump signed a presidential memorandum instructing the Defense Department and Department and Department of Homeland Security to begin preparations on the facility at Guantanamo Bay, which has been used to hold terrorist suspects since the 9/11 attacks.

Trump said it would house "the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people." He announced the move during a bill-singing ceremony at the White House for the Laken Riley Act, which empowers immigration officers to detain unauthorized immigrants when they're arrested for crimes. The new law is expected to increase the number of detained migrants.

"Some of them are so bad we don't even trust the countries to hold them because we don't want them coming back. So we're going to send them out to Guantanamo," Trump said.

There's an old Polish saying that my Grandpa used to say to my Grandma when us kids were running amok - "Not my circus, not my Monkeys" or as he'd say it, "Nie moj cyrk, nie moje malpy".
I like that. I see a number of Canadians who don't know their own system of government but sure know alot about the USA government to the point they think the US constitution applies here.

So, the migrants are going to be placed under military law? The 1903 treaty that enables the US to lease the land from Cuba is for naval purposes only. Not that treaties and agreements seem to bother him much. Maybe he should offer to annex Cuba too.
