Although, when those duties likely include a line item about "maintaining good relations with the host nation and local community," mitigating a politician's gobbing off (VP, IIRC, isn't in the chain of command) and keeping a lid on your stupider troops seems worth doing.

'Going out with a bang' comes to mind. True, she could have just resigned. Perhaps she considered her responsibilities as a base commander in a foreign land compelled her to say something.

Now, he didn't specify whether he meant for this to apply to ALL people in America, or just those here on some kind of status, and you could assume that since this had to deal with an immigrant that it only applies to immigrants, but given the way things are going down there, especially Trump's recent statement about going after "home grown" criminals, the could absolutely see this being something they want to apply to ALL citizens.

One step closer to fascism.
 
the number of court orders the administration is ignoring continues to grow, today they defied a court order to allow the AP back into the press pool. It's becoming increasing clear this administration will not uphold the constitution of the United States unless it benefits them

That’s some seriously scary shit. They’re at the point of talking about sending citizens to foreign prisons. As soon as they’re there, the administration would just shrug and say “they’re in sovereign foreign custody”.

Obviously it would immediately be blocked by the courts- but do they get a few planes in the air first? Or do they simply ignore the courts?

The Trump regime is quick-marching into autocracy, and starting to give totalitarianism some suggestive sideways glances.

Most of them won’t do shit. They sold their values out for Trump years ago, well before the election. There aren’t enough congressional republicans remaining with a spine to stop him.

A lot more than you probably imagine. If a few moderate Republicans with spines legitimately tried going against him, they'd be called RINOs, branded as traitors, accused of spreading "hate" for America, and deported to El Salvador. The rest would fall in line real quick.
