Trump administration 2024-2028

I bet Trump’s next move is to entice farm families to have 10-12 kids to work the fields!
That’ll show em!!
Real talk though, a top priority should be encouraging families to have more children. Tough to do in today's economy but straight up paying mothers might be a solution. The biggest problem of child raising in the West is its so damned expensive. Frankly its an issue of national survival as eventually we will run out of qualified immigrants and our social services rely on the next generation being more productive than the last to keep them solvent.

Prison camps are a fine source of unpaid labour.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if, after they round up all these "criminals", they put them to work where they choose.

Or at least where it benefits the government most.

All the farm owners are crying that you’re rounding up their cheap labour pool. What does the government do?

Provide free labour to said farm owners with unpaid immigration detainee labour. Make slavery great again!

Consider the amount that Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, and Georgia consider Russia within the context of their own domestic situation and tell us again that Canada is an outlier in its level of concern/reflection for a comparatively powerful and non-benevolent neighbour.
Did the US really occupy Canada during WWII?

There are already people warning of these.

But the apologists, who insisted concentration camps were never going to happen and cautioned against "being hysterical", will soon be along to insist that slave labour camps are not going to happen and that we should not "get hysterical."

If the US Farmers are the ones 'put in charge' of which illegals are 'good workers' vs 'bad workers or criminals' and 'protect' them from ICE raids, is that much different than the slave farm labourers that the Nazi's had throughout Greater Germany during the war. I mean, what rights will these illegal workers have in terms of work conditions, pay, harassment and other violations if their American farm owner/employer in essence becomes their 'new master/caregiver'?

Good luck, that's a whole lot of damage that I doubt is going to be fixable until long after the Trump admin is gone.

America (indeed most civilisations throughout history) has been built on cheap labour held in low regard. The arc includes indentured servants (many of the original settlers), to slaves, to waves of marginalised immigrants (Irish, Scottish, Italian etc), all of whom provided a significant economic benefits to the ruling class.

The "illegal immigrants" that make entire sectors (agriculture etc) economically viable are just the latest to be exploited, despised, and absolutely essential.

So, the source of cheap labour will need to be replaced, one way or another.

Really glad I am an investor in a robotics company....and that I do not live in the US.

I've seen a pretty cool YouTube video of some sort of farm combine fitted with lasers(!) that, when the combine drives up and down the rows, uses the lasers to burn any weed that dares to grow among the crop.

Automation will continue to grow in the agro sector but its a long long way away from being cost effective for 'delicate' corps and low value crops.

I can't read hearts, but there was an ... interesting choice of words made during that quote, for sure ;)

Meanwhile, in other news, what do they say about clients who choose to represent themselves?

So, according to Trump, these 10-15yr workers on a farm, will be 'the responsibility' of the farmer/owner. They will pay taxes but won't get citizenship. They will never be able to travel outside of the US (and maybe even the state they work in or maybe even be allowed to leave the city/county they work in), they might not ever be able to leave working for that farmer/owner ever again, they won't be able to attend night school I'd assume to better themselves with the hopes of obtaining a better life for themselves because then their 'protector', the farmer/owner won't be able to shield them from ICE and deportation. Trump is looking to ban citizenship by birth, meaning any children born to one of these workers will not receive US citizenship and thus will be automatically be 'forced' to become a new labourer for the farmer/owner once they turn 16yrs old (of legal age to leave school and work fulltime).

Have I missed anything? Feels like the US has rolled back the clock to about 1750 and the time of Indentured Servants.

All this while owners of companies who employ undocumented workers seem to be strangely absent in any LEO roundups for breaking the rules - although I stand to be corrected ...

4 children who’s mother was an illegal, sounds like the mother made a poor choice. Having children doesn’t make you immune from US laws. Better they all go together than be separated.

ICE is doing a great job cleaning up the mess left behind by the previous administration. Americans voted for this.

The Americans have never been serious about illegal immigration. It been used as a political football for for at least the last 50 years.
If they wanted to stop it and prevent near slavery like working conditions. They would have been arresting and prosecuting Company CEOs and farm owners.
The reality is that America's dirty little secret is they like cheap labor, they need cheap labor.
