This article is telling - as it’s implying that the US Government is going to try and directly take a 5% in the ownership of CDN domiciled company trading on the TSX.
They have already taken a 5% ownership in a mine that the company owns in Nevada.

Bit of a stretch; the 2nd and 3rd stories are very similar and the 1st story is more of an op ed on the same story. But generally they are all saying that he was forced to resign for not allowing a federally owned artifact to be gifted to King Charles on the whim of the first lady.

If the different editorial tone bothers you, when it's separate stories from 3 different authors, you may have missed decades of the same story sourced from AP, or syndicated writers that have very different headlines in whatever publication picks them up.

Of all the ridiculous things this guy has done, this isn't news worthy. We're talking some 3D printed "replica" guns on an award, not actual functioning firearms, essentially nothing more than a poorly detailed model. The thing with some of these countries with the extreme-left gun laws is that we could carve a "gun" out of a piece of soap with some shoe polish on it for a halloween costume and it would technically be a "crime". Eventually, the Liberal's will probably apply this sort of thing here to keep those Quebec votes coming in, if they haven't already also banned replicas.

It feels wrong defending Kash Patel as this guy is legitimately a fool, but this shouldn't be what takes him down.

If the gifts had been a simple block of plastic that looks like a gun, then I would agree with you, but they were not. This is not some evil leftist government witch hunt. This is a clear violation of NZ law, and I think it is reasonable that where firearms are concerned, the head of the FBI would have ensured the gifts were appropriate.

If these 3D printed display guns could be turned into something functional, then you are correct, that would be extremely stupid.

I can't really comment any further without seeing what these things are. I had assumed they were some kind of cheesy looking replica printed to a somewhat low quality with no actual functioning parts. But if Kash Patel was dumb enough to print off legit working Liberator style pistols and glue them onto an award, and then illegally import them to NZ, that's just epic levels of stupid.

If this is the case, and any of use did this, we would likely not get the same treatment.

What are the lies?

Republicans want a mostly clean CR for a very short extension and return to "regular order" (regular appropriations processes).

Democrats want money for an extension of ACA subsidies due to expire, and money for restoration of prior Medicaid cuts.

Those are the big issues.

The House passed a bill and the Senate had enough votes to pass, but not to clear cloture. The immediate cause of the shutdown is the fault of Senate Democrats. (Rand Paul voted against, but because he thought there was still too much spending rather than not enough.) Either side can descend to the approximate level of idiots by trying to assert that failure to accede to demands to change status quo is the "fault" of the other party for not caving, but the fault of a shutdown lies with the party refusing to extend funding - the moral quality of their demands is irrelevant.

Perfect timing for the September unemployment numbers not to come out today because of the government shutdown. With the ADP number showing a 32,000 job loss more than likely US unemployment would have gone up. This gives Trump another month to try and spin the negative news in a positive manner.

Yea so two examples:

1. The official GOP Twitter account made a tweet where they claimed to be showing proof that the Dems are trying to add helathcare for illegal immigrants. Their proof was a copy of the law in question, with the word "Aliens" highlighted in yellow and claiming that this was proof they are trying to get health care for illegal immigrants. Except it doesn't say "illegal" aliens, it just says aliens, and in the second picture they posted, which goes into more detail about what "aliens" includes (again they highlighted aliens) , each of the sub paras clearly indicates these aliens are in the US lawfully.
2. JD Vance did a press conference where he claimed it was somehow WRONG that illegal immigrants could receive medical care if they go to an ER. He then claimed that the funding for this came from a Biden administration decision. This is a flat out lie. The reason illegal immigrants can receive emergency room care is due to a law that Reagan passed decades ago that made it so absolutely anyone can receive medical care at an ER. He then claimed that Trump undid this decision and removed funding for illegal immigrants. This is also a lie because all trump did was eliminate funding for certain funding at certain federal facilities, and NOT the funding for ER health care that's provided for under the Reagan law. He then claimed that the democrats' bill is trying to undue what Trump did, which might actually be true, but the lie is that Vance is claiming that Trump did and what the democrats are trying to do are not what Trump did and not what the democrats are trying to u due.

I fully accept that the shutdown can only be ended with Democrat support in the senate, so unlike the shit show they had in the House at the beginning of the year, this is on the Democrats to resolve. That being said, I don't think Trump has any interest in finding compromise. He and his lackies are happy to keep lying and make the democrats look as bad as they can, regardless of the effect on the people.

Of course. Both parties have been doing that for decades. Not sure there's a point to getting worked up when either of them does it, let alone one particular administration.

It's the level of outright lying they are happy to resort to. Traditionally Democrats and Republicans alike have played-down, exaggerated, obfuscated, ignored, massaged, or told half-truths. The level of flat faced lies, by both sides, was limited. Now it seems like the Republicans are happy to flat faced lie CONSTANTLY. The worst part is that these aren't even cleverly hidden lies, they are very easy to debunk, but they know their supporters won't do an ounce of due diligence and try to verify then; in fact, the "worse" that the lie makes the Democrats appear, the more likely it is to be believed.
