Trump administration 2024-2028

No, you're moving the goalpost to avoid acknowledging the fact you made a pants on head stupid comment.

You advised against boycotting on account of the the US responding to said boycott by doing the thing that they've already done.. that provoked the boycott in the first place.

Goal posts are cemented in: Canada's response to this from the start has been terrible, including counter tariffs, boycott schemes, and slow and weak internal governance. Every time the US does something, Canada's leadership reacts emotionally and instead of pragmatically (though recently Carney did call off Ford on the ad - which supports my position that it was unhelpful/dumb).

Please, my good sir, point to the country with the best response and the best deal with the USA that we can use as a comparison.

I see. Your high level boycott or booing their anthem won't impact individuals it seems.
Helmet on.
Anytime I've worked with American soldiers, especially overseas, they've always given off golden retriever vibes when it comes to helping each other out -including Canadians. That really stood out when compared to CAF HQ types when deployed, such as trying to get help from a clerk at 1800 hrs when you're going on HLTA the next day (they "close at 4")

15 ish years ago a US soldier was on his way home from a year tour in Iraq when he was sent to Wainwright instead for a couple weeks to help train Canadians who were heading to Afghanistan. He had a new baby that he hadn't seen yet waiting for him.

He ended up getting crushed to death when a seacan being lifted by a Chinook detached from the cable and landed on him. For some reason that tragic death always stuck with me. I always associate booing the US anthem with attacking guys like this opposed to somehow hurting Trump or his policies.

My goodness, you are all over the place today...

For the record, put enough tariffs on anything and they become uncompetitive. That's why people are complaining.

If it was simply, US automakers flee Canada to USA because Canada is uncompetitive, fair enough. That's not what's happening. the USA is dumping tariffs on on Canada making Canada uncompetitive with the stated goal of killing the Canadian Auto industry. And maybe if your cared about your fellow Canadian, you could see why that would be upsetting.

Starting from an uncompetitive standpoint makes it worse when the inevitable trade disputes cycle in. Canada was well down the path of economic decline and internal trade barriers, before POTUS 47, making the current situation more difficult.

·a solemn patriotic song officially adopted by a country as an expression of national identity.

When booing the anthem, one is booing the country and their national identity, not the individuals. This is doubly true for sports teams, which usually have a couple of Americans on them, on the team you cheer for.

So that makes the actions of POTS 47 better then? acceptable? What exactly are you getting at?

Canada owns it's situation. Our present problems are compounded by the last decade and more of poor policy. If we were (and seen as) strong instead of weak, today the situation may very well be different. Today everyone defaults to "but Trump" because it's convenient, he is a blip on the radar compared to Canada's own part in all this.

Please, point to the strong nations on the planet that are seen as strong and as such are not being hit with tariffs and dumb trade deals.

I'll help you get started.

Belarus

Argentina

North Korea

Please, expand this list of oh so strong nations not getting the shaft by POTS 47

I bet the national anthem means different things to different people, and they don't always base their feelings off an unsourced dictionary style definition.

Same as people booing the anthem have different reasons for doing so, and most probably don't do it to boo all 340 million Americans.

Ford says Carney and his COS new about the add before it aired. He's doing nobody any favors. :ROFLMAO:

Why is that surprising? It shouldn't be, 100% believe that they were working hand and glove together on this.

What is surprising is the fact that the ads started on 16 Oct, Trump saw them and commented on this the next day and said that he'd run the ads as well if he was on the other side of the fence but then he sat on his hands for 1 week before having a hissy fit.

And no, shattering the world trade order in pursuit of implementing a wholesale change agenda that flies in the face of most modern economic theory is not "an inevitable trade dispute"

Yup.

So, do I have your permission to continue having my own opinion and lived experience?
