Trump administration 2024-2028

I would love to watch that court martial.

You made comments demanding the troops follow legal orders but not illegal ones, how do you plead?

I always loved reading about or watching things about history.

Some of my favorites have been Roman emperors. And you watch these Roman emperors do insane stuff, absolutely unhinged. And I think to myself, man, these people were nuts. I cannot believe how long they were in power for, doing stuff that obviously lead to the ongoing decline and collapse of their empires. Thankfully that could never happen today.

But then I've been watching this administration and I realize I've been too harsh on those ancient societies.
Makes you wonder if the lead poisoning from all the leaded gas and such has a play in this much like lead poisoning had a play in the Roman empire.

Trump and team is doing just about everything possible to kill international tourism in the US.

U.S. to slap big surcharge on foreign visitors to national parks

"...starting in 2026 visitors from abroad will have to pay US$100 on top of the individual park fee to enter 11 of the most popular destinations in the system"
The significant extra costs for most foreigners -- U.S. citizens and permanent residents won’t be impacted -- follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s July executive order intended to “preserve” the parks for “American families.”
Not an unreasonable policy. The most popular parks there, like here, have reservation systems and long wait lists. Why shouldn't a country favour its own citizens?

I think an extra $100 per person, on top of the regular fee is unreasonable.

Annual passes will be $250 for foreign visitors. U.S. residents pay $80.

Just glad I saw most of the popular National Parks in my travels.

and as a reminder, that's 100$ USD per person, so a family of 4 Canadians that would be 400 USD or 565 CAD in ADDITION to the regular entrance fee. Trump is doing his best to kill off foreign tourism in the US.

Less exposure to foreigners in America will make the Americans even more insular, inwards looking and fearful of outsiders.

"11 of the most popular destinations" is a long way from "kill off foreign tourism".

Common sense should inform a person that the overwhelming amount of foreign tourism is to cities or certain areas. Theme parks. Hubs of entertainment. "11 national parks" is a drop in a very large bucket.

And we can use that for... ;)

Combined with other efforts that have had a large impact on tourism, it is not a small thing.

The US is already expect to lose billions in tourism this year, so adding fuel to that fire seems like a bad idea.

A large number of people hit the Grand Canyon as part of their Las Vegas experience. It will be just another reason to not visit Las Vegas as a foreigner.
The most recent numbers I could find were, over 14.6 million foreigners visited US National Parks. Fair to say that a large number will say, ‘f8ck it’, I’m not willing to pay another 100$ USD a person to visit XYZ for 3hrs.
I don’t view 14.6 million as a ‘drop in a large bucket.’
