Sure. We need to expect and to be prepared for that. No other country is more clearly within his self-asserted hegemonic sphere than Canada. This is why it’s so bloody essential we show solidarity with NATO and Europe and commit to being part of the deployments to Greenland. We need them and the economic pressure they can exert to be on our side when - not if - we’re next in the hot seat.

For sure, and the shift to arctic operations definitely is going that way. However I feel at this point we could have 3 divisions in the arctic full time and the Trump administration would still complain its not enough.
Of course. It’s not about winning arguments made in good faith, but in neutering fictitious pretexts.

Same as why the US doesn’t entertain answering the question “why doesn’t America redeploy the 10,000+ troops it had deployed to Greenland previously, if it was serious about the secure Greenland issue?”
It’s about controlling and profiting from Greenland’s critical minerals, which fits into its hemispherical self-security policy.

Only the 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division is in Fort Polk. The rest are at Fort Drum.

They have a good setup in Northern NY. I’ve flown with the 10 CAB folks and they have a good grip on whiteout ops as well as the usual brownout that more southern U.S. divisions experience.

On the exercises front, how many Euro and Commonwealth armoured divisions and air groups do we have training space for on the Prairies? Does Royal want additional miserable and cold territory to ski on? Might France see value in a North American land and air presence, next door to one of their smaller territories?

The main problem is that Trump is an uneducated man. He is neither worldly nor sophisticated and is definitely not versed in science. He is good at making money with other people's money in deals he bullies them into. That's it.
So, when he hears the words "rare earth", he thinks "gold rush" because the "rare" attribute must mean there isn't much of it and thus it's worth a fortune. Except, that's not the case. Rare earth are not repeat not rare. They are all over the planet in reasonable quantities, including in the US. They derive their names from the fact that, contrary to most other minerals, they are almost never in high concentrations anywhere, so you have to dig huge amounts and carry out a long and complex refining process to get any useful amounts out of the ground.
So Greenland (like just about everybody else) has known sources of rare earth? Well, Woopdy-doo! it's under hundreds, if not thousands of feet of ice, and then you still have to dig huge open air pits of it to bring huge amounts of basically rocks to a refining place that can convert it into a small usable amount of rare earth.
Nobody is doing that right now in Greenland because it makes no economic sense when you can do the same in a hundred if not thousands of other locations that are not under an ice cap.

I am not Pro-Trump in any manner. And I believe that he has done more bad than good. But I think we need to be honest about the fact that these statements are inaccurate. His education included:
- High School: New York Military Academy (NYMA).
- Undergraduate Studies:
- Fordham University (1964-1966).
- University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Finance and Commerce (transferred and graduated 1968).
- Degree: Bachelor of Science in Economics.
He did receive a large inheritance that supercharged his real-estate empire. And he gained and lost and gained again fortunes many of us could not dream of. Dumb people only do the losing portion of that. If he were only someone else's puppet sitting in the President's chair, I think we could easily define him as being what was stated in your quote, but in addition to being a bully, he is a great reader of people, understands how to surround himself with individuals who are useful to his cause, and obviously knows how to use people secrets against them. I would also argue that he is playing the part of the loud, brash, pushy entitled, American tourist in his international dealings, because it puts others off their game and they end up underestimating him.

Both statements can be true simultaneously. There are more than a few who've attended university and left with a credential but learned nothing of substance. Some studies indicate that as many as 20% of college graduates may be functionally illiterate. Not to suggest that Trump falls in that category but it is widely reported that he does not read anything (except maybe people).
