Blair, a "lefty"? As the leader who was the face (and prime mover) of "New Labour", he was far from being the stereotypical trade union socialist of the "old" Labour Party. More aptly, a 'new school lefty' - from the right (i.e., posh) schools - in other words, a centrist.
