Trump administration 2024-2028

Yeah, 'drills', that's right ;)

US announces multi-day aerial military drills in the Middle East amid Iran tensions

Exercises described by President Trump as an ‘armada’ to be led by the USS Abraham Lincoln amid standoff

The US has announced plans to hold multi-day military exercises in the Middle East as it deploys what Donald Trump has called an “armada” led by the USS Abraham Lincoln to the region as part of a tense standoff with Iran.

The display of US air power was announced as the White House has suggested it could launch new strikes on Iran after the government’s crackdown on pro-democracy protesters that has left thousands dead and many more in detention with their fates uncertain.

Air Forces Central, the air component of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), said on Tuesday that it would hold a “multi-day readiness exercise to demonstrate the ability to deploy, disperse and sustain combat airpower across the US Central Command area of responsibility”.

The exercise was “designed to enhance asset and personnel dispersal capability, strengthen regional partnerships and prepare for flexible response execution”, Air Forces Central added in a statement.

The dates, location and list of US military assets to take part in the exercises has not been made public. But the exercise appeared designed to display the US ability to project force into the region as tensions with Iran have escalated.

The protests seem to have mostly been suppressed while the CSG was en route, and it sounds like the U.S. is getting a pretty concerted “frig off” from countries in the region regarding basing and overflight. I wonder if they assessed that they missed their best window and are now making a show?

I could be completely wrong and they may still go for it.

Let's make a deal...

U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran on Wednesday that an “armada” was heading toward it and that it should “make a deal” with the U.S. on its contested nuclear program or face a large-scale U.S. military attack.

I thought the administration said they bombed their nuclear program back to the stone age?

And he wonders why he legitimately awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Interesting reaction from Fico when he met with Trump on the 17th, and not in a good way.

Robert Fico, one of the few EU leaders to frequently support Trump’s stance on Europe’s weaknesses, was concerned about the U.S. president’s “psychological state,” two of the diplomats said. Fico used the word “dangerous” to describe how the U.S. president came across during their face-to-face meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Jan. 17, according to two of the diplomats.

Took so long to position assets to attack Iran, he seems to have forgotten this was about supporting protesters from reprisals.
… or maybe he is just in a hurry to change the channel on domestic protests snd state reprisals.

Wait, I thought they destroyed the Iranian nuclear program?
