Trump administration 2024-2028

The immediate question: How will he next top it?
That's easy.

Trump and family have traded 700m in stocks this year.

All of congress traded 650m.

Literally using the office to enrich himself and his family more than every member of congress, who we all know to be ridiculously corrupt.

He'll sign the deed to the white house over to himself, including the ballroom, move the official offices of the executive to somewhere else, and refuse to leave at the end of his term.
My first reaction was a 'laugh' emoji at the ridiculousness of your scenario, then I thought about it for a minute . . .

Hmmm
The last person to hold a deed to that property was a farm land owner, one David Burnes, in October 1791.
Appropriately, after being paid for the land transfer he continued for the rest of his life to appropriate additional payments through litigation, extortion, kick back schemes and bribery.

Where are all the usual defenders of this guy? Awfully quiet.

I don't think you comprehend how unwelcoming and friendly this forum has become for people who aren't in the core anti America, pro LPC or pro PMMC group that seemingly runs this place and all its discussions now.

It's the opinion of this member that a diversity of opinions and ideas are not as welcome as they once use to be.

I'm no DJT supporter; but if they are like me they are withdrawing.

An alternate take on this: most of DJT’s erstwhile Canadian defenders have quietly peeled away from that support as he’s continued to be more and more belligerent and unhinged. Some have genuinely seen the light and realized he’s just not worthy of being supported or defended, particularly in light of his belligerence towards our country. For the smaller number who actually still support him despite his economic and political attacks on us, It’s become more and more embarrassing and stigmatized, and rightly so, to be a Canadian and still be seen with those views. They’ve become quieter because a few years of his increasingly worse conduct have made their views unwelcome in more and more circles. This isn’t a problem with army.ca, it’s just a reflection of the views of Canadians more broadly.

You are right. The increasing stridency of the discourse and the quickness to label and use ad hominem attacks is distressing.

My hat is off to you for the strength of your conviction, and only hope that ALL can tone it down a bit

Just my observation. That and $2.50 might get you a cup of Timmie's, I don't know I make my own.

To be clear. There's valid points to be made coming from the US on Canada's historical aversion to actually being a grown up country. That said, I find it odd how much some take at face value what comes out of this administration, particularly given some historic levels of corruption and incompetence (by their standards). Is it really anti-America to say that things are going off the rails there?

Arguably taking both the Cdn and Yank gov (or any Gov) at face value is a muggs game. All will let you down.

Claiming some moral superiority on either side is just making this a team sport.

Again, just my observation.

The US isn't going off the rails.

The fortunes of the Democratic party are going off the rails - which is only a temporary state of affairs - and they are loud about it.

Equating party values and national values isn't a novel idea.
