I don't get the hay people are trying to make of that situation. It would have been the same if it was HM The King, or PMMC. The others are less important than the leader... Not because they are lesser humans, just because politically their loss is less critical.

More realistically, it's likely that the moral cost of representing an unpredictable and obviously corrupt president isn't worth the financial gains anymore. Everyone has a breaking point, and it's likely she has reached hers.

This has happened before to the press corps/political appointees. Difference is they were warned. Its the lack of warning to the innocents which is causing outrage, not the act itself in my opinion.
