Trump administration 2024-2028

Next FOMC rate decision is 1400 on Wednesday. I can’t see them not increasing the overnight rate. We’ll see ten year T Bills over 5% by then if not before.

5 on 10 and 6 on 30 will be interesting. We’ll see if the Mar-a-Lego Accord and treasure forces exchange are enacted in the coming days/weeks for Trump to have something ‘positive’ to say before the mids.

US 10yr bond at 5% this morning.

CAD is falling against USD as a result of the implied US 1/4 rate increase that may occur on Wednesday. This will make CDN exports cheaper to the US and US exports to Canada (and around the world) more expensive, driving up the US trade deficits.

Don't worry, the US doesn't need Canadian imports. Like our main one, oil. They're completely fine down south.

LOL

Read a report that the oil gains in selling to the US has more than offset the losses of our other exports. Overall the trade deficit with them will most likely increase in 2026 as a result.

You have my curiosity, that does look interesting.

I'll have a watch.

". . . pardon brokers Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl . . ."

Pardon broker? Is that a career field now? What sort of education and experience do you need for that job? I suppose previous involvement with Attorneys General would be helpful.

, , , In March 2023, a federal judge ruled in Attorney General James’ favor and found Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman liable for targeting Black voters and transmitting false and threatening messages intended to discourage voting. Under this agreement, Wohl and Burkman will pay up to $1.25 million for their wrongdoing.

Burkman and Wohl Sentenced for Intimidating Voters in Robocall Case
December 01, 2025

LANSING – Today, Jack Burkman, 59, of Arlington, Virginia, and Jacob Wohl, 27, of Great Falls, Virginia, were sentenced by Judge Margaret VanHouten of the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County to one year probation after pleading no contest to orchestrating a series of robocalls aimed at suppressing the vote of predominantly black voters in Detroit in the 2020 general election, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

They apparently thought that working under their own names might be less than successful.

Convicted fraudsters launch AI lobbying firm using fake names

Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman are operating under the pseudonyms Jay Klein and Bill Sanders.

A Washington startup pitched as a service to integrate AI into lobbying is covertly run by a pair of well-known, far-right conspiracy theorists and convicted felons who are using pseudonyms in their new business, according to four former employees as well as photo and email evidence.

And from last year, it seems that these "lobbyists" do have some success.

Convicted fraudster Donald Trump has pardoned a man convicted of fraud following lobbying efforts by two other men also convicted of fraud.

The president issued a pardon for Joseph Schwartz, a former nursing home tycoon, earlier this month after the businessman paid lobbyists Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl just under a million dollars to pursue one on his behalf, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

Maybe one of them isn't satisfied with just a pardon lobbying fee and wishes to have a bigger slice of the pie.

I don't know what is creepier, the photo of him holding the dog or the profile photo on twitter . . .

If that isn't Leslie Stahl (the 60 Minutes correspondent who did the story), she's a dead ringer for Ms. Stahl.
