Trump administration 2024-2028

Having your largest trading partner declare economic war on you tends to do that.

It's also unsurprising that America is not as seriously impacted by their choice to engage in economic war with Canada.
Economic war!!!

Or rather a trade dispute...

Someone is commenting in real time as Judge Reyes interrogates Dept of Interior and Dept of Justice attorneys on the plan to close the golf course in DC.

I'm not a lawyer, but I assume when a judge pulls out a dictionary to explain words to lawyers that their case is not going well.

Also might be problematic when the Judge says:

Reyes: And you are telling me even now, EVEN NOW, when DOJ has conceded that there was a plan to close on Nov 15, you are still saying to me, as the 3rd highest-ranking official in DOJ, not to believe the POTUS?

The G20 is going well.

From the CTV article:

(Rubio)
“We are in a critical moment,” Rubio told his colleagues. “We are facing a series of interconnected economic and geopolitical crises.”

He pointed to disruptions to global energy and food supplies, trade and freedom of navigation and said many are posing “severe threats to essential foundations of the global economic order.”

No shit, Sherlock. I wonder who started all of that.

Economic war!!!

Or rather a trade dispute...
'Trade disputes' are handled by the dispute mechanism built into a trade agreement, which the US has ignored and/or broken. Absent a specific mechanism, an aggrieved nation can appeal to the WTO. A trade dispute isn't characterized by preemptively launching tariffs on the entire planet, simply because you think it is the bestest word in the world, then telling your citizens that the other countries pay them.

I guess that makes his undeclared war with Iran a 'philosophical dispute'.

I wonder how getting in to trick or treat at the White House even works. From an economics of candy perspective it seems like a horribly inefficient use of trick or treating time.

I am, of course, at the door awaiting the next porch full of kids as I type this.

Going to have to like Hershey's chocolate bars too.

I ran out, 230 seemed like a safe number. The dog will be happy.

We were surprisingly thin here this year, most years my neighbourhood is ridiculous. Might be we got skipped by some due to no decorations, some other stuff got away from us this week.

It seems like they know what's going to happen after the midterms next week:

Iran warns of unfettered retaliation if attacked as mediators try for peace
Iran’s supreme leader says Tehran’s potential response will not be restricted by geography.

Tehran, Iran – Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a strongly worded message to the Iranian armed forces, as mediators continue to try to prevent a new breakout of war between Iran and the United States.

Senior diplomats from Qatar held extensive talks in Tehran on Friday, with further talks expected to take place on Saturday.

Iranian authorities say they are prepared to respond forcefully amid reports that the US and Israel are preparing for new strikes on Iran.

The office of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Khamenei, who has not been seen or heard from since replacing his assassinated father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in March, said on Saturday that he met with senior military commanders and gave them “important strategic directives”.

Khamenei required “maximum deterrence” through preparedness for “an immediate and effective response, without geographical restriction” if the country is attacked again, according to a statement released by the office.

It comes days after US Vice President JD Vance wrote a letter to Tehran, reportedly addressed to Mohsen Rezaei, the Supreme National Security Council leader who has become a central power in strategic decision-making in Iran despite failing over decades to garner enough votes for public office.

Exact details of the letter are unclear, but Vance is believed to have called for nuclear commitments from Iran, including allowing international inspectors to monitor the country’s nuclear programme and determining the fate of Iran’s highly enriched uranium, which Tehran has said will not be shipped abroad.
