Sorry for this new topic for a technicality, but I didn't find the answer in the existing threads.

As some of you know, I have applied for two trades: 1) lawyer 2) Infantry officer.

My interview for both is set for Friday January 13th. I expect to have a second interview at the JAG HQ in march for the lawyer position.

Will Borden wait after the JAG interview to extend me an offer for the infantry officer position (assuming they would), or they can do it prior to that second interview and give me a delay to give my answer.

Thanks.

thanks, but I've been told I look like early trhirties !  whatever... :blotto:

First of all there is a lot of presuming here.  I have seen a lot of lawyers with a lot of experience not even make to the interviews in Ottawa.

Yes you can be offered a position for Infantry Officer before the processing for your first choice is complete.  Will they give you time to see what happens with your first choice?  Probably but it will be a couple of weeks not months.  Sometimes people have to make tough and quick choices about CF careers.

Thanks for the information Kinkanucks...I will keep that in mind.

I guess I'll find that out quite soon enough, with my CFAT on january 9th and the interview on the 13th...don't want to sound too presumptuous about the second interview, but I have put at least an hour per day in average since August 2005 in reading on military law, military justice, armed conflict law, military administrative law and so on and so forth...if I cannot convince the recruiter that I should get that second interview based on the knowledge that I have acquired since last summer, then I have no idea what it would take to be a lawyer in the CF...

...anyways, infantry would be just as good, if not better in a lot of ways.

Later.

It is not the interviewer you have to convince.  It is the strength of your file that neeeds to convince the secretarial board that you deserve an interview in Ottawa.  However, doing what you are doing and relating that to the interviewer so that it is included in your file will make it strong. Good Luck.

Buddy, are you in for the schooling of your life when you roll up to the Center of Excellence with all of your super useful "book learnin'".  The only law you will be worried about will be the Lawfield corridor and it will be your mistress.
The corner stone of the Army is to be able to pick up a rifle and go fight.  Everything after that is just details.  To be a leader of men (that is not a sexist term, BTW) you have to prove yourself.  Im sure it would be delightful to float into a nice JAG position and skip all the icky ruck sack and shooting stuff, but you will never have proven yourself in the eyes of the men you are supposed to be helping.
Dont be suprised to see the Army use the Infantry scheme on a few of you JAG-wanna be's to weed out who can take it and who needs to go get a triple frothy frappachino decaf with a cinnamon stick while having a pedicure.
And why do you indicate you want to be a Navy officer in your profile?

Yes, you won't have "proven yourself" like all of our snake-eater-zipperhead-mo-litia-subbies.

Get a grip.  ::)

Don't you think you came off a little too strong as a represenative of the CF.  Silverbach was only asking for opinions, not lectures.

Well I think Kin has answered the question. If you've got something substatial on the subject PM us for posting.
