U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

Ya, see... I have no issues with a terminally ill patient who wants to go out on their own accord; instead of whither away. But offering it as a solution to social problems is a bridge too far for me.
I’m all for MAID. Watching my very religious mother in law starve to death is not something pleasant. Nor do I plan on inflicting that on my loved ones if given the choice.

I agree with you about it regarding social issues. Not sure that that is actually the intent though. A risk yes but not the intent.

The main argument isn’t “better”. It’s “affordable”.

Better is great but it sucks if you can’t actually access or afford it.

Affordable is a debatable concept when Canadians everywhere are complaining about finding "free" doctors. Or houses. Or jobs.

Not to question their patriotism, but how many "rural folks" are there in Canada?

According to Statistics Canada,

But according to Stats Canada, people who live in a small town 2-3 hours from bigger but medium sized cities are also considered “urban”.

I’d be careful making huge generalizations out of those statistics.

My prediction that Canada would eventually be absorbed by the United States might come true sooner than I thought 😄.

Lower taxes, 2nd amendment rights and pro-business climate does sound appealing at the moment.

How do you see this happening in the best possible way for Canada?

It sounds appealing to most Americans too; until you realize the monkey's paw of those wishes are substandard government services, frequent school shootings, and an oligarchy that has managed to pervert the highest levels of government at the expense of their most vulnerable citizens.

Thinking Canada would be better off under the U.S. system because "muh freedoms" is akin to thinking the stripper actually likes you.
I largely agree with you, but we have shitty government services and an oligarchy perverting government here too.

But down there, like everything else, it’s on steroids.

The Canadian dollar and economy collapses, and we need to be rescued. The Yanks are the only viable option and offer it but in exchange for our sovereignty. In the end we are allowed be the Wales of NA.

I'm open to hypothetical unplanned outcomes, but I'd like to hypothesize deliberate outcomes as well.

I’d be careful making huge generalizations out of those statistics.

I did not make a huge, or small, generalization.

I asked a question,

Not to question anyone's patriotism, but how many "rural folks" are there in Canada?

Perhaps the Rural Ontario Institude said it best,

For many people, rural is a feeling that cannot be explained or quantified by numbers.

Thinking Canada would be better off under the U.S. system because "muh freedoms" is akin to thinking the stripper actually likes you.

Under the U.S. system as a state, or a territory?

thinking the stripper actually likes you.

Somehow, I’d gone through all my money by about 11 p.m. Kandi was really sad I had to go. She said she had to work all night, and she couldn’t go out afterwards because she had to study. (She’s dancing to put herself through med school.)

I give you the City of Melfort, SK.

Melfort (2016 population 5,992) is a city in Saskatchewan, Canada, located approximately 95 kilometres (59 mi) southeast of Prince Albert, 172 kilometres (107 mi) northeast of Saskatoon and 280 kilometres (170 mi) north of Regina.
