Perhaps not strictly terrorism, but terrifying nonetheless on a variety of levels ...
Rape is weaponized in war. It’s happened repeatedly throughout history. This is, in my mind, terrorism.Perhaps not strictly terrorism, but terrifying nonetheless on a variety of levels ...

This is one of those not emulate Europe things I was talking about.
Canadian politicians (the ones that are in power anyway) don't care...Some cultures don't integrate with western societies on a mass scale. UK is a perfect example of this, Canada better take note.
It's a horrible warning about not going overboard with multiculturalism and cultural accommodation, and instead ensuring satisfactory assimilation of immigrants socially and politically. We have some admirable values and ought to assert them. That we have some reprehensible values does not detract from the admirable ones. The cultural relativists need to be reminded that some ways are relatively and overwhelmingly superior to others.

But what the actual f**k??
Seriously. What...the actual...f**k...??
To say an absolute, real shame on the authorities that chose to ignore the victims (or worse yet, actually arrested some victims) and used their positions of power to sweep these crimes under the rug...for DECADES...
I'm speechless. This is downright f**king disgraceful in the realest of ways.
Seriously. What...the actual...f**k...??
There are at least four levels to consider. You are all fooling yourselves if you don't think similar things are not happening here. How many missing First Nations women have disappeared and then been trafficked in the sex trade, with police departments just labelling them as runaways? How many TFWs are brought in to Canada, to be exploited by human traffickers, forced in to servitude or again the sex trade and can't do anything because their passports are taken from them and their families back home are threatened?
same problems in both Sweden and Denmark that I know of. Police in Denmark were told to layoff because they were focusing their attention on the young Muslim community and the courts deemed it to be stereotyping even though a large percentage of proven cases involved Muslim youthThere are at least four levels to consider.
1. The authorities don't investigate diligently enough.
2. The authorities investigate diligently, but it's difficult to find things out and more difficult to build cases.
3. The authorities know and do nothing.
4. The authorities know, do nothing, and in fact hinder those working at (1) and (2).
You accuse us of being at (1), leaning into (2). Britain is at (4). Don't try to play the "we're equally bad here" game.
Is it a issue in Canada? Yes. Is it anywhere near as big a issue as it has gotten in some European countries? No.You are all fooling yourselves if you don't think similar things are not happening here. And lets not forget that those of us who look like our ancestors come from Western European countries, aka whites, have been guilty of using sexual assault as a weapon in conflict (to the winners go the spoils).
Sweden and Denmark will have to sort that out, not Canada.same problems in both Sweden and Denmark that I know of. True, but we have to be wise enough to learn from their mistakes and so far we have been going down the same drain.
How countries so dedicated to the proposition of the political and social equality of people irrespective of gender and ethnicity came to this pass demands answers, which undoubtedly lie in the political and social priors of people who occupy positions demanding neutral application of viewpoint and fail to do so. Perhaps it is as simple as feelings of guilt maybe? Personally, I believe that our penchant for anything goes as a philosophy instead of maintaining a standard regardless of whether it is trendy or not is a lot to blame
Some politicians and people employed in government want to punish colonial countries for colonialism and other failings or to assert their ethnic values in their adopted countries, and use their position to do so, necessarily violating liberal principles of governance, and particularly rule of law. I don't believe that rape is an ethical value in any country but it is the means by which many little minded people try to demonstrate their victims inferiority. Ask women teachers of the attitudes within their classes and from the parents towards them and you will find that several ethnic groups or national groups tend to put them down or consider their opinions to be inferior. We encouraged certain groups to migrate to Canada to do the jobs that we didn't want to dirty our hands with or to fill the low paying positions and failed to consider the historical attitudes that came with them
