I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, but myself and a bunch of people from my unit were discussing this on rememberance day. What is your opinion on traditional unit ranks such as rifleman, trooper, sapper etc. The discussion we had was that on past recruit courses people were getting remedial training for reffering to a bombadier as a corporal. I personally belive its a matter of respect, if a units tradition is to call a private a rifleman for example, then its for respect that we call the soldier rifleman. But I dont think its right to give a soldier c*ck for referring to a rifleman as a private for example, especially since theres no official CF rank called rifleman. I believe its best to simply correct the soldier and remind them of the tradition, not drill one into them. Whats your opinion on this issue?
