Updating the Naval Weapons Inventory

Having watched several surfexs with USN ships using the 25 mm Bushmasters, I think its high time the Canadian Navy replaces some of its .50 cals in the inventory with these weapons.
1) With the added threats to ships in a littoral environment a 25mm is more likely to be able to destroy a small suicide boat similar to the one that badly damaged USS Cole in Yemen.
2) 25mm stands a better chance in disabling a merchant vessel during boarding ops then a .50 without having to resort to main armament and causing greater collateral damage.
3) Could be used as a secondary AA weapon more effectively then a .50.
  What I envision would be each major surface combatant (FFH, DDH and  eventual SCSC) having 2 of these weapons. Any AOR/JSS should be issued 4 as should any amphib we get. The MCDVs should have both .50s replaced by Bushmasters.
  Two main problems I forsee is cost and ammunition storage for the 25mm.
  Questions I have to my brethren in green is:
1) Have you noticed a significant increase in damage on targets between the .50 and the 25mm?
2) Do you feel it would be an easy transition between training for the .50 and the 25mm?

The little boats (Summerside I think it is) are trialing a remote weapons platform for the .50....could be adapted to mount the 40mm MK.19 as well from what I hear.

Two per CPF, plus the old .50 manual mounts retained.  Guess where they plan to put them?
