Hello hopefully someone who has gone through the recruiting process in Vancouver can help me. I am just trying to figure out costs, and where to stay and that, ahead of time. I see there are two centers in Vancouver one on Georgia St.,and one in Surrey. The one in Surrey says by appointment only. So does that mean I will have to do all the tests and interview at that one. Or can I do it at the one on Georgia St.? . And do you do all the tests at the recruiting center or do you have to do the physical test and medical else were. Hoping can do it all at the one on Georgia St. since see a lot of cheap hostels near by : ) to bad it’s a 24hour bus ride to Vancouver. That’s going to be fun

Thanks.

You do the Cfat, interview, medical at CFRC Vancouver. The physical is done at a place near the cfrc, and the blood work at a lab, which is prob close to the cfrc as well

The reason that the one in Surrey requires an appointment is because it is a satellite office. Sgt. Mullick works there, but also has duties at the main recruiting center in Vancouver. It can't hurt to call either place to find out when the best time to speak to someone is. I think you'll find them all very helpful.

Good luck.

Depending on where you live (sounds pretty far) there are other options as well, which will be explained to you by the centre.  One is that you will be processed on a remote.  That is when a team from the centre comes somewhere close to you and processes all the suitable people from that area.  The other, again, depending on your location and cost is that they will bring you to Vancouver.  If that is the case, they will book your flight and hotel for you.
Don't worry about.  They will explain everything to you.

Ok thanks for the info guys/gals. Didn’t want to have to go all over the city would have got lost for sure. I don’t think they would pay my way down don’t have the most impressive application. : (  bus only costs $200 there and back when you book 14-days ahead. Plane costs like $700! I heard they did go around to other remote cities a few times a year. But I thought they just went to talk to people about joining and didn’t do the tests and that. Have to email them on Monday and see when there coming next.

When you send in your application, they will decide whether or not you are suitable for further processing.  They will also contact you regarding remotes, or being flown down.  If you are not suitable, they will not process you even if you take a bus down on your own dime.

I did all the tests at the Georgia Street office, including the XPres test. I had to take a form to my GP to get the blood work done, so those were the only tests I didn't get done at Georgia Street CFRC.

Please don't tell you are thinking about going all the way to CFRC Vancouver to talk about joining?  Call the 1-800# and talk to a recruiter and then apply on-line.  If they think that you are suitable they will get you processed, whether that be via remote or by paying your travel costs to get you into Vancouver.  Don't pay anything out of your pocket to go anywhere.

No I wasn’t thinking of going to Vancouver just to talk to them; I have already emailed then a few times, and had them send me an info pack. It’s just that beach_bum said they send people out from the Vancouver Recruiting center to some of the remote cities. That I already knew they did. But I just thought they went out to sit down with people and talk to them about what type of job they may be interested in and stuff like that.  I didn’t think they did the tests and that as well, like the psychical test.

My choices are Infantry, Crewman, and Combat Engineer. Currently only have grade 10. And no work experience other then odd jobs, so I thought this would hurt my chances of getting in a lot. Well I am working on school still. Just need English 11 then have grade 11. And working on 4 grade 12 courses. Should have grade 12 in June. But was just thinking I should try and start my application as soon as I could.
